My Kind of Jazz: Ella Fitzgerald

I once escorted her on my left arm from a Symphony stage to her dressing room. I sat with her as she greeted her fans and signed autographs. I said to her, "You're the greatest that's ever been." She responded by saying, "Aww, no."

Genuinely humble. My favorite American musician of the 20th century.
