The Assassination / Cui bono?
As a high school student released from class that Friday, I believed the official explanation.
I now view Oswald as a product and tool of ONI, CIA, FBI and the killers.
The first listing was Jim Marrs' classic Crossfire; followed by Fletcher Prouty, with recent refinement by James Douglass and Doug Horne.
Craig I. Zirbel is among those who posit Johnson benefited most; and Hunt's deathbed “deflection†masterfully fingers Johnson as well.
Surely Johnson assumed the position he coveted, eliminated the political enemy he loathed, avoided the likely prison time from the Bobby Baker and Billy Sol Estes scandals.
Hoover was able to secure from Johnson and Nixon his continued job security, and eliminate the man he despised.
Dulles, Angleton, Helms, Cabell (as well as Phillips, Morales, Hunt) got revenge on he who “blew†the Bay of Pigs and fired them and threatened to smash their agency into “a thousand piecesâ€.
Lansdale, Taylor, Lemnitzer and others in the military power structure eliminated the weak sister who would not attack the Soviet missiles in Cuba, banned nuclear tests, was seeking detente with Khruschev and demarche with Castro.
The oil men secured their depletion allowance (Murchison, Byrd, Hunt et al).
The mobsters got RFK off their case and settled accounts such as promises of immunity broken (Marcello, Traficante, Roselli, Giancana, Hoffa).
John F. Kennedy through his enlightened efforts at reform irritated powerful men without scruple who settled differences with applied force, in a ruthless and stealthy fashion.
Someone would have talked, but unlikely anyone heard Roselli tapping on the oil drum.

The p.a. Interrupted our English class to tell us the president had been shot. After a period of buzzing with startled responses and conjecture, the p.a. informed us he was dead and the buses were in front of the building.
At home the television carried continuous reporting. Sunday morning we would get a look at this Lee Harvey Oswald--
Honk; he appears. Honk, bang, he is down.
It would not be until Geraldo showed the Zapruder film a second time, not 1975, but 1976, that I realized it was not as advertised.

The report of three shells was an edit of an earlier find of two per this Dave Reitzes reference to Noel Twyman, Anna Marie Kuhns-Walko and others:
A startling, new fact has emerged recently, from where it had been buried
deep inside the National Archives for thirty-five years: Newly discovered
documents prove that the Dallas Police did not find three spent shells in
the Texas School Book Depository; they found TWO, along with one LIVE
(unfired) round.
These documents include:
1) A Dallas Police Department report dated November 22, 1963, signed by
Lt. Carl Day, the DPD's identifications expert, noting that evidence is
being turned over to the jurisdiction of the FBI. It states that the
listed items were found in the Texas School Book Depository between 1:30
and 2:15 pm that day. The items are the Mannlicher-Carcano rifle, serial
number C2766 (allegedly traced later to Oswald), and, an exact quote: "2
Spent Hulls from 6th floor window." Lt. Day's signature is followed by
that of Officer R. L Studebaker, who witnessed the transfer of the
evidence from Lt. Day to FBI Agent Vince Drain, who "took possession of
all evidence."
2) A copy of the receipt of these items by the FBI: "1 6.5 Rifle # C2766"
and "2 Spent hulls found at [illegible] School Book Depository."
3) A handwritten receipt for these additional items from the DPD: "2
[photographic] negatives + 4 prints of each of two 6.5 hulls + 1 "live"
round of 6.5 ammunition from rifle found on 6th floor of Texas school
[sic] Book Depository, Dallas on 11-22-63."
4) The original FBI evidence sheet for all items in their possession
purportedly belonging to Lee Harvey Oswald, which lists "Live round 6.5"
and "6.5 spent rounds (2)." This report was originally introduced into
evidence as Commission Exhibit 2003, and published on page 260 of the
Warren Commission's twenty-fourth volume of evidence, but -- as J. Gary
Shaw and Larry Harris noted in their 1976 book, Cover-Up -- the published
version's "6.5 spent rounds (2)" has the two altered to a three that
appears to be handwritten. These and the following items are reproduced
in full in Noel Twyman's 1997 book Bloody Treason (62).
5) Commission Exhibits 510 and 512, two police photographs of the three
spent shells as they were allegedly found near the sixth floor window.
Noel Twyman points out that in CE 510, one of the three hulls appears to
be a live round; while the same hull in CE 512 (63) has been
conspicuously blacked out, with a crude forgery of a shell drawn or
scratched onto the negative (64).
6) The original FBI evidence envelope, signed by Special Agent J. Doyle
Williams, which once contained the above-mentioned negatives and
photographs of the spent shells from the Book Depository: "2 negatives
and 4 prints of each," listing, "two 6.5 bullet hulls + 1 "live" round of
6.5 ammunition from rifle found on 6th floor of Texas Book Depository
[sic], Dallas on 11-22-63" (65).
7) And the frosting on the cake, discovered in the National Archives
recently by researcher Anna-Marie Kuhns-Walko, one of the actual DPD
photographs depicting (you guessed it) two spent shells and one live
round (66).
Subsequently a third spent shell was added to the evidence. Whoever it
was who ordered this third shell planted was also powerful enough to
ensure not a single Dallas policeman, Sheriff's deputy or official would
reveal to the Warren Commission that their signed, dated records of
evidence had been altered and replaced, and that a third spent shell had
been introduced as being from the Book Depository.

Great praise to Morley for integrity and persistence.
I stipulate Joaanides was up to his armpits in setting up Oswald as a Castro agent before and after, then in obstruction of investigation which would have revealed his agency's complicity.
But to petition Obama to out the mother of all stonewalling regime-changers—expect Saul Alinsky and Lucifer to enjoy a good snowball fight first.

Dead Spy's JFK Files Pose a Test for Obama's FOIA Order

In his executive order strengthening the Freedom of Information Act, President Obama declared that the law should "be administered with a clear presumption: In the face of doubt, openness prevails." Many have applauded Obama's intentions but whether his beautiful words can actually reverse extreme claims of secrecy has yet to be determined.
Case in point: my lawsuit against the Central Intelligence Agency for a batch of records on a decorated undercover officer named George Joannides. In December 2003, I sued the agency under the FOIA for the files of Joannides, a psychological warfare specialist who played not one, but two interesting roles in the story of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in November 22, 1963.
As I explained in this 2007 article for Playboy.com, Joannides was "the man who didn't talk." As chief of the psychological warfare operations in Miami in 1963, he failed to report on a series of heated public encounters between accused assassin Lee Harvey Oswald and members of a CIA-sponsored Cuban exile group that he guided and monitored to the tune of $51,000 a month. Within hours of JFK's murder, members of the group shaped first day coverage of the assassination by giving reporters evidence that Kennedy's killer was a communist. The CIA did not disclose Joannides' financial relationship with Oswald's anti-Castro antagonists to the Warren Commission.
In 1978, Joannides was called out of retirement to serve as the CIA's liaison to the congressional JFK investigators. He said nothing about his undercover mission in 1963, even when asked for records about Oswald's contacts with his intelligence-gathering network. G. Robert Blakey, the Notre Dame law professor and former federal prosecutor who ran the probe, says Joannides' actions constituted obstruction of Congress, a felony. Joannides died in 1990 having never been questioned by JFK investigators. His Washington Post obituary described him only as a "Defense Department lawyer."
The story of Joannides' deceptions only came into the public record in 2001 when I broke the story in the Miami New Times. In 2003, I reported in Salon.com that a diverse group of leading JFK scholars had called for release of the Joannides files, an appeal that the agency spurned. In court CIA lawyers initially claimed they didn't even have to search for Joannides documents, a position that a three-judge appellate court unanimously rejected in 2007.
Along the way, the lawsuit has yielded more evidence that Joannides' superiors approved of his assassination cover-up. In 2005 the CIA admitted that Joannides had received the Distinguished Intelligence Medal for "exceptional achievement" in July 1981, three years after he misled Congress. In a court filing last December, Delores Nelson, the agency's top information officer, acknowledged for the first time that Joannides served in an "undercover" capacity while working with the congressional JFK investigators in 1978.
The fact that the CIA ran an undercover operation on U.S. soil amidst a congressional inquiry into a presidential assassination is startling--and more than a little relevant to the current debate about whether the CIA should be investigated for abusive interrogation practices. Not surprisingly, the agency wants to keep the Joannides story buried.
The CIA now acknowledges that it possesses 295 documents on Joannides' actions in 1963 and 1978. Agency officials insist they cannot release the records in any form, allegedly for reasons of national security. Bear in mind that all of these documents concern events that happened 30 to 45 years ago. Nonetheless, the Agency lawyers claim--with straight faces--that the release of a single word of any of them would endanger public safety in 2009.
It was exactly this sort of brazen assertion that Obama targeted in his FOIA order, declaring "the Government should not keep information confidential merely because public officials might be embarrassed by disclosure, because errors and failures might be revealed, or because of speculative or abstract fears."
In February my attorney, Jim Lesar, asked the agency's lawyer, Brad Peterson, to reconsider the Agency's position in light of the president's order. Peterson refused. I actually thought the CIA might follow White House orders when it came to records related to the murder of a sitting president. Silly me.
I should note that Peterson was within the law in refusing my request. The boilerplate language attached to the Obama's executive order states that it does not apply to ongoing litigation, only to government actions from that point on.
But in March Attorney General Eric Holder issued a directive to the heads of executive departments and agencies, including the CIA, about the implementation of Obama's order. Holder declared that the new guidelines reaffirmed Obama's "commitment to accountability and transparency," and were "meant to underscore that commitment and to ensure that it is realized in practice [Emphasis added]. " In practice, however, the CIA holds to its preposterous position that release of the antique Joannides files will endanger the American people.
In April, Melanie Pustay, director of the Justice Department's Office of Information Policy, followed up on Holder's directive with a memo stating that all government agencies "must review all aspects of their approach to transparency and incorporate these principles into all decisions they make [emphasis added] involving the FOIA to ensure that the presumption of disclosure is fully realized in practice." More fine words but in reality, "all decisions" didn't include the Agency's decision to continue stonewalling on Joannides.
And so it goes. Officials from the National Archives have repeatedly requested access to the Joannides files to review them for assassination-related material. The CIA declined, citing my lawsuit seeking release of the records as justification for concealing them.
The Joannides files should have been made public a decade ago, according to Judge John Tunheim, former chair of the Assassination Records Review Board, a civilian panel which declassified million of pages of JFK records in the 1990s. Tunheim says the CIA did not share the Joannides files with the review board. "If we had known about these records, I'm sure we would have declassified virtually all of them," he says.
I still believe, perhaps naively, that Obama's FOIA order will be obeyed. My lawsuit continues. The CIA could change its position in a court filing due this summer. But I've learned a lesson about what President Obama is up against. Just because the CIA's position in a FOIA case is factually absurd, legally obtuse and directly contradictory to the president's wishes doesn't mean it is vulnerable to change. When it comes to the government's most sensitive JFK assassination records, the CIA culture of secrecy still has the force of law and the Obama's beautiful words have the force of air.

The Assassination / Were you ordered to shoot Oswald
The analysis of the House Select Committee on Assassinations nine-member polygraph panel of experts is a damning peer review of FBI polygraphist Bell P. Herndon's testing of Jack Ruby.
Herndon's setting of the galvanic skin response to 25% for the first series of tests, and 20% for the balance negated a useful indicator of deception.
Further, this alleged expert allowed the test to continue with the faulty adjustment and performance of the pneumograph tube, allowing Ruby's suppression of his breathing to continue unregistered.
Herndon used too many test questions, too many relevant questions, too many tests, allowed too many present, too much time for the testing and an overly-late start for any useful readings.
Further the off-record arguments with Fowler and Tonahill skewed Ruby's reactions.
It is a matter of the tragic and outrageous record that Ruby in the cell plead with Warren and Ford et al to be taken back to Washington—the implication is clear that he wished to reveal more, but not in Dallas where he would be killed in short order.
A similar pleading tone can be read into (heard, if you will) in his repeated insistence to Fowler to be allowed to proceed with Herndon's protocol, to not be over-lawyered.
That Specter was present is farcical and damning—Specter presents as the omnipresent manipulator of the lone nut/no conspiracy propaganda.
The use and value of the polygraph lies within the guidelines of its admitted limitations and through adherence to its basic principles of test questions, relevant questions, test length, presence limited to tester and testee, etc.
As with all of the Commission and FBI measures, the adulteration of standard usage and practice to produce the lone patsy sans collaborators proceeded apace.
Aldrich Ames expressed trepidation to his KGB handler over his upcoming periodic CIA polygraph—to which the agent counseled, “Take the flutter.†With that assurance, Ames (the most damaging spy in the Agency's history) passed with flying colors.
Just so, Herndon assured Ruby early on that he was doing fine. This allowed Ruby to relax, being less likely to show reaction.
Robert, you showed an unconscious reaction to a question, and you had no intention to deceive. I posit Jack Ruby did not intend to deceive, but to cooperate—within the parameters of a watchful organized crime element ready to provide for him the final solution he had provided for the inconvenient Oswald.
Seth Kantor is useful in understanding Jack Ruby—the meeting at Parkland is indicative. The inside baseball knowledge of the difference between a Free Cuba Committee and the Fair Play for Cuba Committee has been lost on the official investigations—willful blindness.
That Ruby concocted the wiring the stripper money ruse. That he walked into a street door to the station, crossed the hall and descended the stairs to the garage after viewing a signal from the alley by Western Union (not the silly ramp scenario) shows his connections within DPD.
His gun-running. His mob ties to the Havana casino figures. Sightings of Ruby and Oswald. Attempted truck purchases for Cuba. Oh no, he was just a good citizen who wanted to spare Jackie a trial.
The Danny Aiello film Ruby was an attempt to indicate his greater complexity, but was bogged in overdramatization and departure from the factual basis.
His phone record alone was telltale—and no, it was not attributable to a labor dispute. Jack handled labor disputes with his fists. To be talking to major mob players in the last ninety days was chatter on final to Elm Street.

JFK presents as the tragic figure having caused his own demise.
He resisted and threatened the national security establishment alluded to by Eisenhower in his military-industrial speech in 1961 and the danger the CIA had become per the Truman Washington Post editorial of December 1963.
In addition he enraged powerful figures in organized crime who publicly threatened him on repeated occasions.
He was generally deemed a traitor by the CIA-Cuban operatives of the failed Bay of Pigs invasion.
Oil men spent real money to insure their oil depletion allowance would not be taken away by him.
Johnson and Hoover form a powerful Janus of animosity.
There would be a war in Vietnam no matter what the temporary resident of the White House had to say about it.
Dulles symbolized the contempt with his “that little Kennedy. . .he thought he was a god.â€
Armstrong and Newman et al have indicated special handling of one Lee Oswald.
The photos and x-rays of the autopsy altogether with the coercion of the three autopsists and other assorted technicians came from the highest levels of the Pentagon.
JFK created a critical mass of resistance.
All of the above had a place on the great mandala of the coup.
It's the dance of the seven veils which persists which prevents an agitated populace from actually addressing the matter.

I believe your view is that there is too much an element of for-profit in the publication of pro-conspiracy books and pro-Warren Commission books.
The realism of idealism ought to be recognized, that is, the legitimate rage felt by many citizens that an abhorrent act was committed and ought not stand.
I do not quarrel with any writer's wage, any more than with that of the teacher, the clerk, the carpenter, or the nurse.
I would question what bargain with Lucifer the Warrenati have made, that their thirty pieces of silver marks them out for another ride to get it right.
We should in all things call out the shallow, the fake, the poseur, the charlatan.
Yet we should recognize that many, and present company as likely as any, are motivated, not by profit, but by settling accounts.
When I saw Groden and Gregory and Geraldo screening Zapruder and the head shot came I was convinced I'd been lied to by my government.
No “jet effect†could dispel the obvious fact of a frontal shot.
Through cognitive dissonance the Sunsteinian efforts persist: “What are you going to believe, authority or your lying eyes?â€
You mention vanity along with profit, fame and fortune, as motives for Posner and Bugliosi.
Surely they are prey to those base appeals, along with their presenting as Eric Hoffer's True Believer, Stalin's New Soviet Man, Blair-Orwell's Inner Party Member, incapable of acknowledging any argument counter to dogma.
At their level, they are to express obedience; that is the price of their purse.

With Kennedy's death, Marcello had the stone out of his shoe.
The Pentagon had its war.
Johnson had the Oval Office.
Hoover had career continuity certain.
Cubans had revenge.
Angleton had Oswald in his web from enlistment; Veciana saw Phillips with Oswald; Dulles was appointed to protect CIA.
Hoover controlled the investigation, having thrust much evidence and testimony down the memory hole.
Roselli was in the Castro/JM WAVE business as “Majorâ€--with Morales, Hunt, Phillips—a melding of Company and Outfit.
Ferrie was involved with Banister who was Naval Intellgence, CIA, FBI, in an address used by Oswald, and Banister was familiar with Oswald whom he described as “one of ours.â€
Ruby cleaned up, aided by Patrick Dean, associated with Joseph Civello.
CIA has an enormous budget, global infrastructure, statutory plausible denial and uses all expertly to accomplish its ends without blowback.
Yet Lane destroyed Hunt's alibi, and Phillips confessed to his presence, and, adding the military aspect, Lansdale has been identified in the tramp photos.
Braden/Brading and perhaps Charles Nicoletti were in the Dal-Tex Building, along with Texas Uranium and Oil, Jennifer Junior, leading to two coincidences where one is too many.
Zapruder's partner Jeanne DeMohrenschildt.
DeMohrenschildt and Nicoletti blasting off Planet Earth on March 29, 1977 in advance of HSCA.
A commonality of interests is more useful than an artificial separation of agency.

Excellent observations.
Some have said JFK and Allen Dulles remained great friends after JFK fired Allen Dulles.
Surely Allen Dulles would have claimed such—see how his memo to Houston lies that he was successful in convincing Truman to recant his December 1963 Washington Post editorial.
Yet JFK was a danger to Dulles' CIA—would “shatter it into a thousand pieces and scatter it to the winds.†See how he stripped it of its covert operations with NSAM 55 and the creation of the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Yet we need not speculate the purpose for which the commission was created when Rostow, Moyers, Katzenbach, Hoover, and Johnson all spoke of the need to get something out which would stop the rumors throughout the world of the conspiracy behind the assassination.
Instrumental to this end was Angleton's World War III virus, Oswald's alleged visits to the Soviet and Cuban consulates in Mexico City which enabled Johnson to pressure Warren to head the Commission or risk 40 million killed in the first half-hour of a nuclear exchange.
The 26-volume set would serve to fill that empty space in one's bookcase or prop up one's car for an oil change.

He indicates many problems with the record of calls and visits, yet says CIA and Kostikov agreed Oswald met with him.
If the evidence of Oswald's visit is so strong why did Ruth Paine have to keep planting Mexican postcards for the police to find.
Oh it's certainly a virtuoso performance by Angleton and Phillips' Goodpasture and accomplished its purpose—stop investigating, cover up.
But the actual Oswald in Mexico City? Why then the photos which are not he, and the tapes which are not he, and all of the anomalies.
Because it was operationally a botch.

The Assassination / He ain't the one
The alleged assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, was deprived of life by the conspiracy which murdered the president. A stipulation, not a speculation.
Mr. Oswald was assured a number of rights of which he was subsequently deprived by U.S. Consitution, Amendment VI, to wit:
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed; which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defence.
The Warren Commission, the House Select Committee on Assassinations, the screeds of Posner and Bugliosi and the rest of the mockingbirds continue to deprive the accused of his civil rights.
Garrison was subjected to the burrowing and gnashing of ten or a dozen CIA moles, warranted the installation of a teletype in the CIA office in the trial city, the use of CIA-approved defense attorneys and the daily inquiries by Helms in re “our people down there.â€
Oswald was an undercover intelligence operative used by those who had so much to gain by Kennedy's execution.

The Right to Counsel
A criminal defendant's right to an attorney is found in the Sixth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which requires the "assistance of counsel" for the accused "in all criminal prosecutions." This means that a defendant has a constitutional right to be represented by an attorney during trial. It also means that if the defendant cannot afford an attorney, in almost all instances the government will appoint one to handle the case, at no cost to the defendant.
Keep in mind that, while the right to counsel is discussed here in connection with a criminal trial, a suspect has the right to a lawyer at almost every important phase of the criminal process, typically from arrest through the first appeal after conviction.
Take the case of the agricultural agent who was a threat to Johnson—he committed suicide.
That's an example of how Texas law differs from U.S. Constitution Amendment VI and the right to counsel as it is recognized in America.
That Oswald was executed BEFORE trial and conviction and without counsel would be considered by the former top Law Enforement Officer Hoover as “a clerical errorâ€--see reversal of Zapruder frames in Life Magazine.
Oswald repeatedly expressed desire for counsel--â€someone to come forwardâ€--but he got a shiner, a torn shirt, slanted lineups, no record of two days of interrogation, and when he called long distance the Feds listened in and blocked the call.
In other words, Oswald got the full Third Reich treatment.
To this day the case against him is so full of holes it makes Marlene Dietrich's net stockings opaque by comparison.

The 112th Military Intelligence Group at 4th Army Headquarters at Fort Sam Houston is told to “stand down†rather than report for duty in Dallas, over the protests of the unit commander, Col. Maximillian Reich. Nevertheless, Lt. Colonel George Whitmeyer, the commander of the local Army intelligence reserve, will be in the police pilot car which will precede the motorcade in Dallas, and an Army Intelligence officer is with FBI agent James Hosty 45 minutes before the parade, on Main Street.
It will be later revealed that the 112th MI Group, which maintains an office in Dallas, had possessed a file on a man named “Harvey Lee Oswald,†identifying him as a pro-communist who had been in Russia and had been involved in pro-Castro activities in New Orleans. This military file erroneously gives Oswald’s address as 605 Elsbeth, the same mistake found on jack Revill’s list. Apparently military intelligence is swift in providing Dallas police with information on Oswald, the man who will come to be labeled as the lone assassin of Kennedy. It is a fact that several Dallas police officers also serve in various military reserve units and are therefore in close contact with military intelligence. Information on Oswald apparently comes from the 112th MIG’s operations officer, Lt. Col. Robert E. Jones, who is stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. Testifying to the House Select Committee on Assassinations, Jones will say that on the afternoon of the assassination he receives a call from his agents in Dallas advising that a man named A.J. Hidell has been arrested. (This is most interesting because, while Oswald did carry some cards identifying him as Hidell, no mention is made of this in the media today indicating a close relationship between the M.I. agents and Dallas Police.) Jones will testify that he begins a search of his intelligence indexes and locates a file on A.J. Hidell which cross-references into one for Lee Harvey Oswald. He says he then contacts the FBI in both San Antonio and Dallas with his information. The files on Hidell and Oswald give detailed information about his trip to Russia as well as pro-Castro activities in New Orleans. Jones says he had become aware of Oswald in the summer of 1963 when information had been passed along by the New Orleans Police Department regarding his arrest there. He says the 112th MIG took an interest in Oswald as a possible counterintelligence threat. The House committee, remarking on how quickly the military found files on Oswald, will state: “This information suggested the existence of a military intelligence file on Oswald and raised the possibility that he had intelligence associations of some kind.†The Warren Commission will specifically ask to see any military files regarding Oswald but will never be shown the files mentioned by Jones or any others. In 1978, when the House Select Committee on Assassinations learns of these files and requests them from the military, they will be told the files have been “destroyed routinely†in 1973. Even more troublesome is the military’s file on A.J. Hidell. Jones states that Hidell is an alias used by Oswald, which accounts for the fact that the two files were cross-indexed. However, nowhere in the vast documentation of Oswald’s life did he ever actually use A.J. Hidell as an alias - the exceptions being when he mail-ordered the rifle allegedly used to kill Kennedy and the pistol allegedly used to kill Officer Tippit using the name Hidell and the use of the name Hidell on Fair Play for Cuba literature. This raises two possibilities. Either military intelligence had some independent knowledge of Oswald’s purchase of the weapons which took place long before he arrived in New Orleans (Were they moniÂtoring his Dallas post office box?) or someone, perhaps even Oswald himself, informed the military of his purchases. In either event it appears that the U. S. military knew more about Oswald and his weapons than has yet been made public. Crossfire
May 16, 1973 Army Intelligence declassifies an extraordinary army telegram today. Concerning Lee Harvey Oswald, the telegram had been dispatched late in the evening of November 22, 1963. The cable, from the Fourth Army command in Texas to the U.S. Strike Command at McDill Air Force Base in Florida, links Oswald to Cuba via Cuba’s alleged Communist “propaganda vehicle,†the Fair Play for Cuba Committee. It also transmits two statements about Oswald, both false, which have come via army intelligence from the Dallas police: “Assistant Chief Don Strongfellow, Intelligence Section, Dallas Police Department, notified 112th Intelligence Group, this Headquarters, that information obtained from Oswald revealed he had defected to Cuba in 1959 and is a card-carrying memÂber of communist Party.†Strongfellow was a member of the police intelligence unit headed by Jack Revill, while the Fourth Army’s 112th Intelligence Group (with offices in Dallas and New Orleans) was the unit of James Powell (the agent who happened to be taking pictures in Dealey Plaza on Nov. 22, 1963 and was subsequently caught inside the TSBD when it was sealed off by the police soon after the assassination.) The U.S. Strike Command, USSTRICOM, is an extraordinary two-service command (army and air force) set up in 1961 in response to the “Lebanon crisis†of 1958. Designed to provide a swift strike force on short notice, its location in Florida made it singularly appropriate for a surprise attack on Cuba. Since mid-1963 its commander had been General William D. Rosson, a CIA-related general who in 1954 had formed part of General Lansdale’s team in Vietnam. Fletcher Prouty, in his book The Secret Team, lists him as one of the six who “made rapid promotions to the grade of brigadier general and higher as a result of the CIA, Special Forces, and Vietnam.â€

488th Military Intelligence Detachment
In 1956 Jack Alston Crichton started up his own spy unit, the 488th Military Intelligence Detachment in Dallas. Crichton served as the unit's commander under Lieutenant Colonel George Whitmeyer, who was in overall command of all Army Reserve units in East Texas. In an interview Crichton claimed that there were "about a hundred men in that unit and about forty or fifty of them were from the Dallas Police Department."
In November 1963 Jack Alston Crichton was involved in the arrangements of the visit that President John F. Kennedy made to Dallas. His close friend, Deputy Police Chief George L. Lumpkin, and a fellow member of the the 488th Military Intelligence Detachment, drove the pilot car of Kennedy's motorcade. Also in the car was Lieutenant Colonel George Whitmeyer, commander of all Army Reserve units in East Texas. The pilot car stopped briefly in front of the Texas School Book Depository, where Lumpkin spoke to a policeman controlling traffic at the corner of Houston and Elm.

I downloaded and printed to a binder Saint John Hunt's Bond of Secrecy. I have the five-page letter I emailed him in 2008 upon reading his work.
I found the passion in E. Howard Hunt's Give Us This Day (1973) to come through powerfully. It was a feeling the nation shared. Lots of people calling JFK an sob, a traitor, things not appropriate for a family-friendly forum.
Mark Lane in Plausible Denial (1991) deconstructed Hunt's alibi for November 22, 1963. Chinese grocery. The smell of fish. It's all coming back to me.
Hunt on his deathbed points his bony finger at LBJ. And Cord Meyers. Oh, it's political ambition and romantic jealousy. Man, that answers that.
And all that stuff about Bay of Pigs, and missile crisis, and preemptive attack, and disarmament, and test ban, and detente with Khruschev and demarche with Castro, well that was marginalia.
E. Howard Hunt was old-school spook to the end, and his confession was no confession but deflection: that is, the Company didn't kill the chief; some cheap politician and jealous renegade did the dirty deed.

A trial would subpoena witnesses and evidence and hold it all to the standard of legal practice, adversarial challenge, cross-examination.
Discovery would call forth no end of pig-like squealing from Langley and FBI, Secret Service and DPD, military intelligence, and the actions and whereabouts of all the subjects of inquiry.
Arlen Specter would be on the stand for two weeks. Day after day, no interruptions, distractions, changes of subject.

In re the case of Officer Tippit, substantial and valid witness testimony is absent. Ballistic evidence is dismissive. Timing fails a true test.
Tippit cannot be proved beyond a reasonable doubt. There is no case there.

I have The Assassinations edited by Jim DiEugenio and Lisa Pease, and offer the following paragraph from my copy to the rebuttal of the libelous charges by Leary et al:
But there is a big problem with Leary, his story, and those who use it (like biographers David Horowitz and Peter Collier). Leary did not mention Mary in any of his books until Flashbacks in 1983, more than two decades after he met Mary. It's not like he did not have the opportunity to do so. Leary was a prolific author who got almost anything he wanted published. He appears to have published over 40 books. Of those, at least 25 were published between 1962, when he says he met Mary, and 1983, when he first mentions her. Some of these books are month-to-month chronicles, e.g., High Priest. I could not find Mary mentioned, even vaguely, in any of the books. This is improbable considering the vivid, unforgettable portrait that Leary drew in 1983. This striking-looking woman walks in unannounced, mentions her powerful friends in Washington, and later starts dumping out the CIA's secret operations to control American elections to him. Leary, who mentioned many of those he turned on throughout his books, and thanks those who believed in him, deemed this unimportant. That is, until the 20th anniversary of JFK's death. (Which is when Rosenbaum wrote his ugly satire on the Kennedy research community for Texas Monthly, which in turn got him a guest spot on Nightline.) This is also when Leary began hooking up with Gordon Liddy, doing carnival-type debates across college campuses, an act which managed to rehabilitate both of them and put them back in the public eye.

A CIA document that was declassified in 1977 reports that a French assassin who belongto the violent, anti-Kennedy French terrorist organization known as the OAS was in Dallas on the day of the shooting (1:202-209; 19:414-419; 25:95-126). The hitman's name, according to the document, was Jean Soutre. The document mentions that Soutre had also gone by the name of Michel Mertz. It now seems likely that the man was really Michel Mertz using Soutre's name (25:95-172, 267-289). Mertz was a ruthless member of the French Mafia, which had a strong motive to kill Kennedy (25:141-172, 267-289). Mertz and Soutre were enemies. Soutre himself said it was possible that the man described in the document was Mertz using his, Soutre's, name. Within 48 hours of the assassination, the man was picked up in Texas by U.S. authorities and immediately expelled. Interestingly, evidence has surfaced that the FBI was looking for Soutre, or for someone using his name, BEFORE the assassination (25:130-133). We also know that the KGB believed it found evidence that Mertz played a role in the assassination and that he was hired by the French (Corsican/Marseille) Mafia (see below).
The CIA document mentions that Soutre received mail from a dentist named Alderson. The FBI located this individual, Dr. Lawrence Alderson, who had met Soutre while stationed in France as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Dr. Alderson told former Rockefeller Foundation scholar Henry Hurt that the FBI agents who interviewed him informed him that the FBI felt Soutre "had either killed JFK or knew who had done it" (19:418). When he spoke with Hurt, Dr. Alderson produced a snapshot of Soutre that he took when he was stationed in France. To make a long story short, the FBI dropped the ball in the investigation of Soutre and essentially swept the whole thing under the rug.
Why would the Mafia have wanted JFK dead? Quite simply, because the Kennedy administration was threatening the very existence of organized crime in America, and the French Mafia could very well have feared that Kennedy was going to disrupt or halt its lucrative heroin enterprise. Robert Kennedy was waging an unprecedented war on the Mafia, a war that targeted not just Mafia operations but also Mafia leaders themselves.
Mr. Angleton-Harvey, Larry Hancock advised in a jfklancer post that the book The Heroin Trail would be illuminating regarding these two figures.

Soutre met with CIA officer E. Howard Hunt in April of 1963, and later that spring with anti-Castro Cubans (some of whom knew Oswald) and other members of the World Anti-Communist League operating in the Caribbean and the southern United States. Id. A friend of Soutre's in Dallas, Dr. Lawrence Alderson, stated that the FBI contacted him soon after the assassination trying to locate Soutre for questioning. He states that the Bureau knew Soutre was in Dallas on November 22, 1963, and that he may have been flown out of the country that afternoon in a "government" plane. Id. at 560-61. CIA officer Richard Helms, who testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee about the executive action foreign assassination program (otherwise known as "ZR/Rifle"), indicated that the CIA used highly trained European assassins on certain missions. See Interim Report on Alleged Assassination Plots Involving Foreign Leaders, infra note 81, at 37-67 (especially regarding the assassin known as "QJ/WIN"). Le Cavelier reported to Fensterwald that many former OAS mercenaries were recruited by the CIA and the United States Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) after 1962. Russell, supra note 64, at 563. Soutre, currently living in France, denies any involvement in the Kennedy assassination. Id. His complete CIA and FBI files have not yet been released. Id. at 560.
In the late 1950s, Michael Mertz, a former French intelligence agent, was involved in a narcotics smuggling operation between France, the United States, and Canada. In 1961, Mertz was assigned to infiltrate the OAS by the French SDECE. Id. at 559-60 (citing Newsday Staff, The Heroin Trail, (1974)). Soutre also had ties to Corsican Mafia drug operations, according to undercover narcotics agents in Marseilles. Id. at 563. Michael Roux, currently a New York based international businessman, claims to have had nothing whatsoever to do with Soutre or Mertz, or the assassination. While he admits being in Dallas visiting friends on the day of the assassination, information obtained by Dick Russell suggests that he was cleared by an FBI investigation in 1964. Id. at 560.
I know that in my printout of Saint John Hunt's Bond of Secrecy the late elder Hunt refers to Soutre as the French gunman on the grassy knoll.
And as you know I characterize the joint effort of the Hunts as a “deathbed deflection.â€

Walking back from the Dal-Tex we have Jim Braden reputed to be a courier for Meyer Lansky a protege of “Lucky Luciano†in sum a long-standing commonality of interest between the OSS and CIA and certain Sicilian and American mafiosi involving the heroin trade.
The outlawing of heroin in 1924 made its criminal distribution profitable in the extreme. The Turkish source for Marseille refining yielded to the Golden Triangle by the late sixties.
U.S. entry into Vietnam following the defeat of the French at Dien Bien Phu in 1954 provided access. In October 1963 Kennedy announced he would withdraw all U.S. personnel by 1965. The Tuesday after his interment in Arlington, LBJ signed NSAM 273 and advised he would not lose Vietnam.
Our friend the colonel told us of being ordered by his superiors to provide safe passage for a drug convoy emerging from territory controlled by the enemy. It was the strangest thing he'd ever witnessed.
One might wonder at the book Six Days of the Condor made into the Robert Redford film Three Days of the Condor, might wonder whether the CIA was ever involved in drug smuggling, whether Terry Reed in Compromised: Clinton, Bush and the CIA is accurately describing planeloads of drugs from the Nicaraguan jungle arriving at various bases in CONUS.
Britain fought two opium wars in China in the Nineteenth Century; France one. The use of opium in geopolitical forceplay is neither new nor outre.

Col Bui Tin said the war would have been won for the U.S. and the South if the Ho Chi Minh Trail had been closed—but Johnson would not do it, and Nixon, with Kissinger, went to China in 1972, and we may ask what unrecorded arrangement was made to insure the free flow of opium at market prices.

However, in 1930-1931, only seven years after heroin was legally banned, a war erupted in the Mafia ranks. Out of the violence that left more than sixty gangsters dead came a new generation of leaders with little respect for the traditional code of honor.2

Almost all of the world's illicit opium [in 1972] is grown in a narrow band of mountains that stretches along the southern rim of the great Asian land mass, from Turkey's and Anatolian plateau, through the northern reaches of the Indian subcontinent, all the way to the rugged mountains of northern Laos. Within this 4,500-mile stretch of mountain landscape, peasants and tribesmen of eight different nations harvest some fourteen hundred tons a year of raw opium, which eventually reaches the world's heroin and opium addicts." A small percentage of this fourteen hundred tons is diverted from legitimate pharmaceutical production in Turkey, Iran, and India, but most of it is grown expressly for the international narcotics traffic in South and Southeast Asia. Although Turkey was the major source of American narcotics through the 1960s, the hundred tons of raw opium its licensed peasant farmers diverted from legitimate production never accounted for more than 7 percent of the world's illicit supply.5 About 24 percent is harvested by poppy farmers in South Asia (Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India). However, most of this is consumed by local opium addicts, and only insignificant quantities find their way to Europe or the United States.6 It is Southeast Asia that has become the world's most important source of illicit opium. Every year the hill tribe farmers of Southeast Asia's Golden Triangle region-northeastern Burma, northern Thailand, and northern Laos-harvest approximately one thousand tons of raw opium, or about 70 percent of the world's illicit supply.7

Had Nixon won in 1960 it is certain permission would have been granted for the final B-26 raid on Castro's three T-33 jets with their deadly .50 caliber machine guns, and the invasion likely would have been supported by the U.S. Navy forces on scene.
It was a bold move of Nixon to open China in 1972, and was a flanking move on the Soviet Union under Brezhnev.
In 1972 Hoover died of a heart attack. In 1973 Johnson died of a heart attack. In 1974 Nixon was forced to resign due to CIA manipulation and sabotage of a black bag operation on the DNC in 1972.
Ford appointed Rockefeller to investigate the CIA. Appointed GHWBush as DCI.
The appointment of Gates as SecDef is of note. Gates with Brzezinski in 2004 coauthored the CFR paper Iran: Time for a New Approach.

The Assassination / Dave's not here--but he was on the Big Day
The Dallas meeting with Bishop that September took place in the busy lobby of a large downtown office building. From Veciana's description of its distinctive blue tiled facade, it was probably the Southland Center, a 42-story office complex built in the late Fifties. Veciana recalls that as soon as he walked in, he saw Bishop standing in a corner of the lobby talking with a pale, slight and soft-featured young man. Veciana does not recall if Bishop introduced him by name, but Bishop ended his conversation with the young man shortly after Veciana arrived. Together, they walked out of the lobby onto the busy sidewalk. Bishop and the young man stopped behind Veciana for a moment, had a few additional words, then the young man gestured farewell and walked away. Bishop immediately turned to Veciana and began a discussion of the current activities of Alpha 66 as they walked to a nearby coffee shop. He never spoke to Veciana about the young man and Veciana didn't ask.
On the day that John F. Kennedy was assassinated, Veciana immediately recognized the news photographs and television images of Lee Harvey Oswald as being of the young man he had seen with Maurice Bishop in Dallas. There was no doubt in his mind. When I asked if it could have been someone who closely resembled Oswald, Veciana said, “Well, you know, Bishop himself taught me how to remember faces, how to remember characteristics. I am sure it was Oswald. If it wasn't Oswald, it was someone who looked exactly like him. Exacto, exacto.â€

Bishop does the dance of seven veils, but he is David Atlee Phillips, likely handler of Oswald, certainly implicated in the cable trail out of Mexico City, later said to have admitted to his brother that, yes, he'd been in Dallas the day of the assassination.
Fonzi was on the trail of DeMohrenschildt the day the latter sucked a shotgun under suspicious circumstances.
Fonzi's colleague Ed Lopez coauthored with Dan Hardway the vital Lopez Report of Oswald in Mexico City.

The Assassination / What makes Lee run?
What was Lee's motive for what he did not do? Gil Jesus and George Michael Evica showed he never owned the Mannlicher-Carcano; Dallas nitrate-paraffin testing showed he did not fire a rifle.
He enlisted in the Marines and was used by ONI in the false defection program; brought back and passed off by CIA Domestic Contacts agent J. Walton Moore to CIA asset George de Mohrenschildt; placed in the Depository by CIA-linked Ruth Paine. A patsy doesn't need a motive; a patsy didn't do it.
The Commission decided the motive wasn't necessary—for that matter, since the assassins killed the patsy, a trial wasn't necessary.
Yet the motivation for Lee in his career was inspiration derived from the dramatization of Herbert J. Philbrick, citizen, Communist, spy for the F.B.I.
Lee was an undercover intelligence operative for ONI, CIA, FBI.
Reading now in Gerald McKnight of how the Rankin Commission (mistakenly called the Warren Commission) colluded with Hoover and Dulles to not investigate the claims Lee was an informant for either the FBI or CIA.
The last night of his life he called John Hurt in North Carolina, his ONI handler.
In The Last Investigation, Gaeton Fonzi interviews Alpha 66's Antonio Veciana who worked under CIA's David Atlee Phillips styling himself Maurice Bishop. Veciana met Phillips in Dallas in the summer of 1963 and found the CIA agent talking with Oswald.
Lee didn't fire at Walker—that was Marina's made-up story after Ruby shot Lee. Lee didn't shoot Tippit—not unless he got hold of an automatic, or was working with a heavy-set fellow.
And Lee didn't shoot JFK—not unless he used a handgun with bullets which could reach Elm Street from the second floor lunchroom of the Depository.
Besides—lone nuts a) don't need motives; and, b) don't need any forensic evidence.
As for motives of the killers: James Douglass, JFK and the Unspeakable is excellent; also of interest: Double-Cross; Mafia Kingfish—the statements of the figures of the time are precious:
Tolson said somebody ought to shoot the Kennedy brothers. Marcello said JFK was going to get hit. The chiefs were enraged over the missile crisis backdown from preemptive strike. The CIA weren't about to allow themselves to be shattered into a thousand pieces. The Federal Reserve principals were determined to countermand EO 11110.
In short, Lee's motive was to follow the instructions of his serial intelligence handlers out of patriotism and a romantic notion of the daring and dangerous career of a secret agent.
It is of note that the tip-off of the Chicago plot came from a person named “Lee.â€
Hence we might say Lee was motivated by a desire to save the life of President Kennedy.

The other publishers were aghast. "Mr. President," said Jim Chambers, publisher of the Times Herald (Dallas' afternoon paper) and a man who knew Ted Dealey well, "I think you should know that Mr. Dealey does not express the sentiments of all the publishers around this table." The incident produced a national media fire storm, and the News relished every moment. Around the state and the country, Ted Dealey was condemned as a reactionary and a boor. But in Dallas, the News received more than 2,000 letters, and 1700 of them voiced approval of his actions. In Dallas it was Jim Chambers who fielded the stacks of hate mail.
Two years later a News advertising salesman took the copy for an unusual ad up to the executive suite. He was worried about the ad's strong language and uncertain origin. Normally such questions would have been routed through Joe Dealey, Ted's son, but Joe was away at a newspaper convention and wouldn't be back until President Kennedy's visit the next day. Instead, the decision was left to Ted.
Even today Joe Dealey shakes his head at the memory of the ad. "Damn, we ought not to have done it," he says. "If I'd been sitting there, I'd have killed it." But Ted was sitting there, and so, on November 22, 1963, John Kennedy was greeted with the ad that would forever link the Dallas Morning News with the tragic events of that day. "Welcome, Mr. Kennedy, to Dallas," it began, and it went on to ask a series of rhetorical questions, such as "Why have you scrapped the Monroe Doctrine in favor of the Spirit of Moscow?" The entire ad was enclosed in a thick black border. That morning Kennedy read the ad and handed it to his wife. "Oh, you know, we're heading into nut country," he said. Three hours later he was struck dead by an assassin's bullet — as his limousine passed through a plaza named for G. B. Dealey."

The story of Ralph Leon Yates (cited by piopat and echelon above) illustrates the ruthlessness of Hoover in suppressing the truth, as well as the sloppy intelligence “legend-building†intended to frame Oswald.

Transcript of a fascinating Len Osanic interview with Dan Hardway who with Ed Lopez wrote the HSCA Mexico City Report often called the Lopez Report, suppressed for years, partially declassified now, that is, released with blacked out redactions.
Hardway refers to George Joannides brought out of retirement by CIA to thwart the Lopez-Hardway file search at CIA. Even now Jefferson Morley's suit to release the Joannides file is thwarted by CIA under the “transparent†Obama administration's new DCI—Obama wanted Brennan, settled for Panetta, and now installs Petraeus.
The following paragraph is a key pull-quote:

We have Give Us This Day (1973) as an expression, albeit romanticized, of Hunt's loyalty to his Cuban comrades and his outrage at what he clearly perceives as their betrayal.
The same year Gore Vidal in the Art and Arts of E. Howard Hunt treats the role of Hunt in the notes of Oswald and Bremer, and the forged cables framing Kennedy for Diem's murder.

Hoover would die of a heart attack in May, 1972, and the following year Johnson would die, of a heart attack. So, who is preventing Jefferson Morley from obtaining the CIA file on George Joannides who ran the Directorate. Who is redacting the Lopez Report on Mexico City. Johnson, Hoover, Marcello, Murchison, the Mossad, Masons?
I don't for a minute dispute the wide range of enemies Kennedy accrued in his lifetime, their glee in his murder, their possible involvement in some aspect of the implementation.
We may look at the sequence of violent deaths preceding the HSCA investigation, Hoffa and Giancana in 1975, Roselli in 1976, Nicoletti and DeMohrenschildt in 1977.
We may look at the violent death of David Ferrie, who was linked to Marcello and the FBI/CIA agent Banister; Banister dies in 1964, Ferrie as soon as Garrison publicly names him.
Yet who placed ten moles in the Garrison investigation, provided the defense attorneys, sabotaged the trial with media leaks, installed a teletype in the local CIA office to apprise Richard Helms who daily inquired about “our people down there†according to Marchetti.
By the time the curse, “take the stone from my shoe†was uttered for Becker's ears, Angleton had run the Oswald file through a maze of devices, and Helms had appoiinted Harvey who would solicit the assistance of John Roselli and his people.
Hoover would suppress evidence of conspiracy (see the treatment of Leon Yates who picked up the Oswald double with a double order of curtain rods).
Hunt would be in Dallas, not outside some Chinese grocery. And on his deathbed would deflect blame from his Agency to Johnson.

When Fritz confronted Oswald about the Frazier curtain rods story, Oswald denied it. (WR p. 604).
No witness saw Oswald enter the Depository with the alleged bag, nor saw Oswald at the Paine residence with it.
Troy West was the Depository employee responsible for the company's paper and tape, never left his station, never saw Oswald asking for or removing materials.
The bag was not oily though the rifle was. The bag was however early—just ask Leon Yates.
And late as well, notifying Ruth Paine to come to the Irving post office to pick it up.
No one found it though each said the other found it; no one photographed it in situ, and it grew from Frazier's description to its press photo and shrank by the time it reached the archives.
The section at the link above is over 2500 words—the bag saga is complex, though the take-away is not: it was not made by Oswald and did not contain the rifle which he did not own and was not used in the shooting that day.
And the paper was and was not identical to that at the Depository—see the Pat Speer link. Pat Speer is meticulous: the Bureau matched the paper to a roll at the Depository—but not at the time the bag was allegedly made. No match. Identical, not identical.

The Assassination / JFK Book Deposit History
I just finished Gerald D. McKnight, Breach of Trust: How the Warren Commission Failed the Nation and Why, and am now reading George Michael Evica, A Certain Arrogance: The Sacrificing of Lee Harvey Oswald and the Cold War Manipulation of Religious Groups by US Intelligence.
In the former book is confirmed the suppression of evidence and ignoring of inconvenient witnesses by Hoover's FBI, and the dispelling of the myth of a monolithic commission conclusion—in fact, many doubts remained as to the plausibility of the magic bullet or single bullet, the significance of Oswald's Mexico City trip, and a host of other evidentiary dreck filling 26 volumes.
In the latter book are addressed such indicators of intelligence complicity as Oswald's “enrollment†in the Albert Schweitzer College in Switzerland.
In the interim between the two books I revisited Noel Twyman, Bloody Treason: The Assassination of John F. Kennedy—On Solving History's Greatest Murder Mystery.

It was also the address of Guy Banister's office and was next door to the office of Jim Braden, a Mafia operative who was arrested in Dealey Plaza immediately after the JFK assassination, but immediately let go.
So when considering the question was JFK hit by the CIA or the Mafia, one must consider the answer just might be “yes.â€

NSAM 263 was replaced by NSAM 273 signed the day after the riderless horse was returned to its stable. Tonkin Gulf the next year—hear LBJ describe that fraud to Russell in the phone tape of September 18, 1964.

LBJ fought the war JFK would have avoided. Hoover backed off the outfit RFK was pursuing. There were drugs to sell for billions to be laundered through banks to be used for more covert ops.
Ruby was banished from Chicago to Dallas with the caveat that he would be available for duty for the outfit at any time. He was in contact with associates of Marcello, Giancana, Hoffa, to finish the business they'd started.
And they'd been brought into the long-running manipulation of Oswald by Angleton by Helms through Harvey.
Recall that Gates told Leahy this month, “Senator, governments lie to each other—it's how business gets done.â€
Gates would know—he was DCI. As such he would also know, governments have agencies who lie to governments and the people, who are not accountable through the principle of plausible denial inherent in the National Security Acts of 1947-8.
JFK was assassinated so that business can get done.

The impersonation of Oswald in Mexico by someone who drew attention to an Oswald connection to a KGB assassination officer may prove to be the Rosetta stone of this case.

Newman presents evidence of an Oswald impersonator speaking of meeting Valery Kostikov known to the CIA as the chief of KGB assassination operations for the entire Western Hemisphere. Newman says according to CIA cables and Kostikov himself, the real Oswald did meet Kostikov in Mexico.
David Atllee Phillips gave sworn testimony to the HSCA that Oswald asked the Soviets for money for another defection, having told Ron Kessler of the Washington Post the previous day that Oswald had offered information for money.
Newman adds that the first HSCA counsel Sprague said the CIA cables had been rewritten post-assassination to remove references to Oswald's visits to the Soviet and Cuban Embassies.
FBI's Gheesling suffered Hoover's censure and probation for having removed the Flash or Stop on Oswald which prevented FBI responding to CIA cables.
Was the stop removed because CIA informed FBI it was planning to embarrass FPCC by planting deceptive information.
Newman credits Peter Dale Scott's Phase I-Phase II analysis describing how initial reports of Oswald's contacts with Cuban and Soviet officials posed the World War III threat, hence the immediate default to the lone-nut hypothesis.
Newman is compelling in his continued emphasis that the manipulation of Oswald could only have been done by someone intimately familiar with intelligence operations.
As he said at close of his Who or What Was Lee Harvey Oswald:
Oswald was not created by the Mafia, the Cubans, the Russians or the Dallas Police. He was a creation of the CIA, years before the assassination.

Custer Examines the X-Rays of the Body
The noteworthy highlights of Custer's review of the x-rays of the body was Jeremy's attempt to see whether Custer could identify metal fragments near any of the cervical vertebrae, which Custer had mentioned earlier in the deposition.
Jeremy showed Custer x-ray no. 9, a view of the chest prior to removal of the lungs, and the exchange went as follows:
Gunn: Previously, you referred to there being metal fragments in the cervical area. Are you able to identify any metal fragments in this x-ray?
Custer: Not in this film.
Gunn: Does this film include a view or an exposure that would have included such metal fragments?
Custer: No sir.
Gunn: Where would the metal fragments be located?
Custer: Further up in there. This region.
Gunn: Can you—and you're pointing to?
Custer: Up into the, I'd say, C3/C4 region.
Jeremy asked Custer to review x-rays no. 8 and 10, of the right shoulder and chest, and left shoulder and chest, respectively—both are images following the removal of the heart and lungs. Custer could not identify metal fragments in either x-ray.
Later, Jeremy asked Custer the following questions:
Gunn: Now, you had raised, previously in the deposition. . .the possibility of some metal fragments in the C3/C4 range.
Custer: I noticed I didn't see that.
Gunn: You didn't see any x-rays that would be in—that would include the C3/C4 area?
Custer: No sir.
Gunn: Are you certain that you took x-rays that included the—included C3 and C4?
Custer: Yes, sir. Absolutely.
Gunn: How many x-rays did you take that would have included that?
Custer: Just one. And that was all that was necessary, because it showed—right there.
Gunn: And what, as best you recall, did it show?
Custer: A fragmentation of a shell in and around that circular exit—that area. Let me rephrase that. I don't want to say “exit,†because I don't know whether it was exit or entrance. But all I can say, there was bullet fragmentations [sic] around that area—that opening.
Gunn: Around C3/C4?
Custer: Right.
Gunn†And do you recall how many fragments there were?
Custer: Not really. There was enough. It was very prevalent.
Gunn: Did anyone make any observations about metal fragments in the C3/C4 area?
Custer: I did. And I was told to mind my own business. That's where I was shut down again.
Gunn: You have, during the course of this deposition, identified three x-rays that you are quite certain that you took, but don't appear in this collection. Are there any others that you can identify as not being included?
Custer: That's the only three that come to my mind right now; the two tangential views, and the A-P cervical spine.
Gunn: Okay.
Custer: Can I add something to that?
Gunn: Sure.
Custer: In my own opinion, I do believe, basically, the reason why they are not here is because they showed massive amounts of bullet fragments.

Ultimately, out of desperation the Commission's attorney had to resort to putting a leading question to his own witness absolutely inadmissible in any real court in order to telegraph to the witness what he wanted to hear:
MR. BALL: You recognized him from his appearance?
MRS. MARKHAM: I asked-I looked at him. When I saw this man I wasn't sure, but I had cold chills just run over me.

Collins Radio and the CIA
Shortly after 2:00 PM, Mr. T. F. White observed a man sitting in a 1961 red Ford Falcon, with the engine running, in the El Chico parking lot behind his garage. This is five blocks north of the Texas Theater. As Mr. White approached the car, the driver turned and looked at him. The driver then sped off in a westerly direction on Davis Street. Mr. White, who later saw Oswald's picture on TV, said the man in the Falcon was identical to Oswald and wore a "white T-shirt." When told by the FBI that Oswald was in jail at 2:00 PM, White still maintained that the man he saw driving the red Falcon was "possibly identical" to the Oswald he had seen on TV after the assassination. This Oswald "sighting" shortly after Harvey Oswald's arrest at the Texas Theater could have been a case of mistaken identity. But Mr. White, who had been given police training, wrote down the vehicle's license plate number. The plates belonged to a blue 1957 Plymouth 4 door sedan-not a 1961 red Ford Falcon. The Plymouth belonged to Carl Mather, a long time employee of Collins Radio and close friend of J.D. Tippit. Newsman and former Dallas Mayor Wes Wise heard of the unusual Oswald sighting. Mr. Wise and fellow news reporter Jane Bartell questioned Mather about the incident over dinner. Mather was so nervous he could hardly talk and said little. In 1977 the HSCA wanted to interview Mather about this incident. He agreed, but not before he was granted immunity from prosecution by the Justice Department. Mather was interviewed by the HSCA, but most of the documents relating to that interview remain classified in the National Archives. Why?
One possible reason is Oswald's prior connection to Collins Radio and what Collins Radio actually represented. Oswald, in the company of George De Mohrenschildt, had once visited the home of retired Admiral Henry Bruton, who was an executive of Collins Radio. This was reported by the HSCA in a manuscript called "I'm A Patsy" by De Mohrenschildt. Bruton and his position with Collins is also mentioned in Edward Epstein's book Legend. Bruton had been a lawyer in Virginia before becoming a Navy intelligence officer. Bruton's specialty was electronic surveillance and this is what he was bringing to Collins Radio. In April of 1963, the Wall Street Journal announced that Collins would construct a modern radio communications system linking Laos, Thailand, and South Vietnam. On November 1, 1963, the New York Times reported that Fidel Castro had captured a large boat called the Rex which was being leased to Collins Radio at the time. The next day, one of the captured Cuban exiles aboard the Rex confessed that the boat had been used to ferry arms into Cuba and that "the CIA organized all arms shipments" (New York Times 11/3/63). According to Bill Kelly (Back Channels, Summer 1992), the Rex was the flagship of the JM/WAVE fleet, the CIA's super station in Miami. According to Kelly, Castro announced that the arms shipments were meant for an assassination attempt on top Cuban leaders. What a provocative scenario: five blocks from where Oswald was arrested we have an Oswald double in a car traced to Tippit's friend and the friend works for a CIA associated company that plays a role in the plots against Cuba and Castro.
Meanwhile, Harvey Oswald was sitting in the police station, accused of crimes he did not commit. When questioned by the Dallas Police, he said he had walked out the front of the TSBD, boarded a bus, taken a cab to North Beckley, and then gone to a movie. Harvey Oswald's statements to the Dallas Police follow and agree with witness identification of the man wearing the "brown shirt." He maintained his innocence and described himself as a "patsy" but to no avail. The Dallas Police charged him, one "Lee Harvey Oswald," with murder. Sheriff Bill Decker provided the Warren Commission (12H51) a file titled "Harvey Lee Oswald, W M 24, murder.....11/22/63 of John Fitzgerald Kennedy." At least the Sheriff's department got his name right.

Tippit's behavior that morning indicated he was desperately waiting for someone to cross the bridge from Dallas. Was Tippit Desperately Seeking Lee:

Five witnesses saw Officer J. D. Tippit arrive at the Gloco service station at
12:45 pm. He sat in his car and watched traffic cross the bridge from Dallas
for about ten minutes. There had been no police dispatches ordering Tippit to
this location. William Whaley's cab with Oswald inside crossed the Houston
Viaduct at about 12:52 pm, passing in front of the Gloco Station. At about this
same time, Tippit pulled out from the station and sped south on Lancaster. At
12:54, Tippit answered a call from his dispatcher and said he was at "8th and
Lancaster," a mile south of the Gloco Station.
He turned right on Jefferson Blvd., and stopped again at the Top Ten Record
Store a few minutes before 1:00 pm. According to store clerk Louis Cortinas and
owner W. R. "Dub" Stark, Tippit parked his patrol car on Bishop Street, ran
into the store, dialed a number on their pay phone, and hung up, apparently not
getting an answer. Police dispatcher Murray Jackson called Tippit at 1:03 pm
and got no answer.
Tippit returned to his car, and sped across Jefferson, then down Bishop Street
to Sunset, where he ran a stop sign and turned right. From this intersection,
he was about two minutes away from Oswald's rooming house at 1026 North
Beckley.
William Whaley left Oswald off near the corner of Neely Street and North
Beckley a few minutes before 1:00 pm. Oswald walked three and a half blocks
north to his rooming house. Housekeeper Earlene Roberts had been watching
television coverage of the assassination, which had begun at 12:58 pm. Oswald
arrived shortly thereafter, and spent "three or four minutes" in his room,
where he supposedly changed clothes and picked up a .38 revolver. (6 H 439-42)
Later in the day the Dallas police would send some men out to search the
premises. They would ask if a "Harvey Lee Oswald" lived there. (6 H 438)
While Oswald was in his room, a Dallas patrol car drove by slowly, stopped
briefly in front of 1026 North Beckley, honked its horn twice, then drove on.
Mrs. Roberts turned to look out the front door, thinking it was a policeman
friend of hers, but quickly realized it wasn't, and turned back to the
television. (6 H 443) When asked by the Warren Commission if she'd noticed the
squad car's number, she said that she hadn't, but that possibly it was 106 or
107. (6 H 443-44) J. D. Tippit's car was number 10. All other police cars were
accounted for at that time; none but Tippit's was supposed to be in Oak Cliff.
If this was not Tippit, who was it? As far as the record shows, the Commission
never sought to find out.

The hysterical witness with her hands over her eyes who spoke with the dead officer positively identified Oswald after leading questioning because she felt a chill come over her.
Then there's Lee's incredible speed on foot, his ability to fire automatic shells through a revolver with a bent firing pin, and to change shape—even become two men—and drive off in a grey Plymouth.
In a court of law the defense attorney would successfully exclude the flawed inculpatory evidence—hence the accused would be murdered while in custody of tens of armed Dallas police before the national media by a man whose FBI and gunrunning and outfit links would not be pursued.
What's to see? Oswald killed Tippit because he killed Kennedy and fired at Walker.
Oswald killed Kennedy because he killed Tippit and fired at Walker.
And he fired at Walker with a bullet that changed shape after the act—and he drove away from the Walker scene as two men.
Same modus operandi—pure Oswald, the Communist.

Bundy cancelled the final B-25 raid on Castro's three T-33 jets with their .50 cal. Machine guns which would chop up the brigade and put the words “damned traitor†on the mouths of hundreds of angry men trained for military action.
Concurrently the late namesakes of the very alive James Jesus Angleton/William King Harvey were networking with John Rosselli, Santos Trafficante, Carlos Marcello, Sam Giancana, ostensibly to hit Fidel—but can we see any serious intent. Because the security state needs that boogey man.
Kennedy the peacenik and the word we do not use, Kennedy who would not strike when General Jack Hammer demanded it, when Slim Pickens ached to ride the ICBM to Moscow, the cruel month of October, marked as the falling leaves.
June of 1963 the one Dulles mocked saying “he thought he was a god†struck at the Federal Reserve with Executive Order 11110 June 4, and a peace speech with the Commies June 10.
And in October, the cruel month, National Security Action Memorandum 263 running from the fight as the French had done and counseled, spoiling the profits of Brown & Root et al, cutting off access to the Golden Triangle's drugs.

A memorandum dictated by Moynihan to himself, describing his chaotic, terrible day after news of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy reached Washington. William Walton was an artist and Kennedy-family friend. Charles Horsky was a prominent lawyer and White House adviser on national capital affairs. Moynihan at the time was an assistant secretary of labor in the Kennedy administration.
Bill Walton, Charlie Horsky and I were just finishing lunch at Walton’s house—in the grandest good mood with Walton leaving for the Russian tour that afternoon—I was talking about Brasilia and the phone rang. Oh no! Killed! No! Horsky’s office had phoned for him to return. We rushed upstairs. Television had some of it but the commercials continued. Bill began sobbing. Out of control. Horsky in a rage. Clint (?)Jackie’s agent had said the President is dead. Walton knew this meant it was so. He dressed more or less and we went directly to the White House from Georgetown. On the way the radio reported that Albert Thomas had said he might be living.
We went directly to the President’s office which was torn apart with new carpets being put down in his office and the cabinet room. As if a new President were to take office. No one about save Chuck Daly. McGeorge Bundy appeared. Icy. Ralph Dungan came in smoking a pipe, quizzical, as if unconcerned. Then Sorensen. The three together in the door of the hallway that leads to the Cabinet room area. Dead silent. Someone said “It’s over.â€

The contrived lineup identification to the contrary notwithstanding and the revised Givens 2.0 testimony, Oswald was firing nothing more lethal than a glass bottle of classic Coca Cola.
The Dallas Police paraffin test of his cheek was confirmed by the NAA testing of the Atomic Energy Commission Oak Ridge Lab as negative. A test sensitive to a few parts in a billion was exculpatory of the defendant and destructive of the a priori LBJ-Hoover-Commission frame-up.
The witnesses saw at least one man running from the back door of the building, while the elevators and stairways provided a means of escape for anyone who wished.

So there follows in the Warren Report a sentence that has become enshrined in assassination literature since 1964, by both critics and Commission defenders alike—neither side questioning it. It goes like this: "Oswald told Frazier that he would like to drive to Irving to pick up some curtain rods for an apartment in Dallas." (ibid)
As written, this statement is not accurate. Oswald did not admit to saying this. It originates with Frazier. And the other detail that goes with it, namely that he said he carried those curtain rods in a long paper bag to work on Friday, is also not accurate. Oswald did not say that either. Will Fritz wrote a report after Oswald was killed in which he said that when he confronted Oswald with Frazier's story about the curtain rods, the suspect denied it. (WR p. 604) Oswald maintained that he carried a lunch bag to work on Friday. (Sylvia Meagher, Accessories After the Fact, p. 225) Yet this long paper bag story was injected into the press so quickly and forcefully that even as able a critic as Sylvia Meagher accepted it. Her and Mark Lane did not argue about who was telling the truth, Frazier or Oswald. Instead they argued over how long the bag was. This story about the long paper bag had to wait for decades to be seriously challenged. But challenged it is.
The first problem with it is this: Jack Dougherty saw Oswald as he entered the building that morning after he left Frazier's car. He was specifically asked about the long bag, he didn't recall it. (WC Vol. VI, p. 377) No one else saw it either. (Meagher, p. 58) This is a package that the Commission says was three feet long. (Harold Weisberg, Whitewash, p. 58) One way to have tested Oswald's lunch bag story was to have interviewed the driver of the catering truck that visited the work site each morning. There is no evidence that this was done.(Meagher, p. 225) This is an important point because Frazier said that Oswald always carried his lunch except for that day. (WR p. 133) So if Oswald did not buy his lunch that day, then what was he eating on the first floor? Also, there is no affirmative evidence from the Paine household that Oswald picked up any curtain rods. Ruth Paine, who helped incriminate Oswald every way she could, said he took no rods from their household. ( Vol. IX, p. 424) Marina Oswald said the same. (WC Vol. 22 p. 751) No witness saw Oswald transport the paper bag to the Paine household, or is on record as seeing the long paper bag at the Paines. (Weisberg, pgs. 51, 52, 59)
Depository witness Troy West is interesting in this regard. As Harold Weisberg notes, the Commission states that this long paper bag was made from paper and tape secured from the Depository. (Weisberg, p. 58) West had worked at the place for 16 years. He said he never left his station, even for lunch. He was the man in charge of dispensing the paper and tape for packaging. When asked if Oswald ever approached his desk for paper or tape he said he did not. (Vol. VI p. 360) Further, West established that the tape would automatically be dispensed from the machine while wet. To take it out dry, you would literally have to take the tape out of the machine first. (ibid p. 361) Which neither West, nor anybody else, saw Oswald do.
Further, the FBI reported that the rifle in evidence was well-oiled. Yet the bag had no oil stains on it. (Ian Griggs, No Case to Answer, p. 203) British Det. Griggs has also done experiments in disassembling the Mannlicher Carcano. It turns out that the Commission and the FBI were deceptive in this. When actually disassembled, the rifle has to be broken down into 12 parts to isolate the wooden stock. Unless the smaller parts are placed in an envelope, they will bounce around in the package and make noise. Which Frazier did not report hearing. Finally, when this is done, and Griggs did it, the stock is inevitably scratched by the metal parts. Yet this scratching is not seen on the rifle in evidence today. (Griggs, p. 200)
Let's add this up. Oswald never approached Troy West to secure the paper or tape the Commission says he used to prepare the package. If he had, he would have needed to tape the package in front of West. Which West would have surely remembered. Yet, in spite of that fact, no one saw Oswald carry the package with him to the Paines. (Meagher, pgs. 48-49)Not even Frazier. (Think about all that for a few seconds.) Further, no one at the Paines' residence recalls the package, or Oswald asking for curtain rods. Once Oswald left Frazier's car, no one saw him carrying a long bulky package inside the building. So besides Frazier—I will get to Linnie Mae Randle's testimony later—how did the Commission link Oswald to the bag?
Through a right palmprint and the left fingerprint of his index finger. (WR p. 135) Think how absurd this is. In all the necessary handiwork of securing the paper, preparing this three foot package, taping it together, putting the rifle inside, carrying it into the building, and finally taking it out of the package—Oswald got one single fingerprint on it. Further, there were no other prints on the bag. How could that be if, as we shall see, the police told the Commission that two of them—possibly three of them—picked it up and delivered it to HQ?
What makes this print evidence even more questionable is that there are two differing documents on the FBI analysis of the paper. Way back in 1977 Gary Shaw discovered two FBI documents. They said two nearly opposite things about the same exhibit. One document said that paper samples from the Depository were "not identical" with the bag in evidence. The other said the samples had the same observable characteristics as the bag in evidence. This indicated that the Bureau realized that the bag created a problem for them and that the Dallas Police were wrong about where the paper came from. They therefore changed the first document with precise language to the second one with the vague language to give themselves legal leeway. Because if they admitted the paper did not come from the Depository, then where did it come from? Shaw, and researchers Jack White and Ed Tatro, believed the Bureau altered a document in order to frame Oswald.
As Pat Speer notes, Bugliosi deals with this issue in his End Notes. Bugliosi says that since the reports were from different days, it is obvious that further investigation by Hoover of later paper samples straightened it all out. Speer comments that there is a big problem with Bugliosi's solution: Both reports were created on the same day, 11/30/63. And since the further paper samples Hoover tested did not arrive until 12/1, how could they have been tested for these 11/30 documents? Further, Bugliosi leaves out the fact that the FBI later offered two differing explanations for the differing documents. One by Public Affairs Officer William Baker, the other by the actual author of the documents Vincent Drain. They both offered differing but benign explanations. It turns out they were both wrong. It now appears that the bag in evidence did not match the Depository paper samples and that the document was later altered to say it did. (See Speer's article, "Proof the FBI Changed Documents and Vincent Bugliosi was Wrong," at the Mary Ferrell Foundation.)
This would indicate that the bag in evidence today was manufactured after the fact. Speer makes a cogent argument on his web site that this happened. He shows that the paper bag allegedly found in the Depository, carried outside and photographed by the press that day does not appear to be the same paper bag returned by the FBI to the Dallas Police four days later. The fascinating thing about his study is that it appears that not only did the Dallas Police not photograph the bag where they say they found it, but they do not appear to have photographed it at all until November 26th! This, of course, brings even further doubt on the aforementioned fingerprint evidence. The DPD did not lift or photograph any such evidence while they had the bag. And according to FBI agent Gordon Shanklin's inventory, the bag was not sent to Washington on the evening of the assassination. (The Third Decade, Vol. 1 No. 2, p. 12) Once it got there, the FBI had to do three different tests in order to pull off one index finger fingerprint and one palmprint. (WC Vol. IV pgs. 3-4) The bag then returned to Dallas, appears to be a different bag than the one sent. If so, how did the palmprint and index fingerprint get on it? In other words, which bag was the print evidence on?
As Speer notes, the Dallas Police could not tell a consistent story on what was discovered first, the bag or the rifle. They could not tell a consistent story on who dusted the bag. Lt. Day says he did this on the scene, but no one on the scene backs him on this, maybe because he came up with no prints. Others say it was Det. Studebaker who dusted the bag.
But it's even worse than that. The DPD can't even tell a coherent story as to who found the bag. Day said the bag was found near the shells. Yet when Luke Mooney described the discovery of the shells, he mentioned no bag. But, as Griggs points out, if Day was telling the truth, Mooney had to have been standing on the bag as he stood over the shells! (Ian Griggs, No Case to Answer, pgs. 176-77) When David Belin asked Deputy Sheriff Roger Craig if he saw any long sack laying in the floor, Craig replied that he did not. (ibid p. 178) Sgt. Gerald Hill said he didn't see the long sack even though he wasn't really asked the question. (ibid) In his obtuse answer, Hill referred to Det. Hicks. Yet when Hicks was asked if he saw a long paper sack he replied "No sir; I don't believe I did." (ibid p. 179) The police now relied on Detectives Johnson, Montgomery, and Studebaker to save the day. Listen to Montgomery: "Let's see—the paper sack—I don't recall for sure if it was on the floor or on the box, but I know it was just there—one of the pictures might show exactly where it was." (Meagher, p. 59) Of course, there was no picture. And we are to believe Montgomery didn't know that.
A further problem with Montgomery and Johnson was that although they allegedly saw such a bag, they couldn't decide who picked it up and unfolded it. Johnson said Montgomery picked it up and unfolded it. But Montgomery said nothing about unfolding it and firmly denied picking it up. (Griggs, pgs. 181-182) Montgomery passed that buck onto Studebaker. Studebaker is the man who photographed much of the evidence. But somehow, he did not photograph the bag in situ. Or even on the floor it was found. For he admitted the bag did not even show up incidentally in any related photos he took on the sixth floor. He also said he put a piece of tape on the bag where he thought he saw a possible print. There was no such visible print, or tape, on the bag when received by the FBI. (Meagher, p. 61) But here is the capper with Studebaker. When asked how long the bag was, he said it was between three and four feet long. (Griggs, p. 185) This is almost twice as long as the bag Frazier testified to. In other words, the man who should have seen the bag first did not, even though he was standing on it. And the man who did see it, and should have photographed it, did not take the picture. What makes it even worse is that it appears that it is this bag that was photographed outside the Depository by the press. Speer has some fun showing the difficulty in matching this package to the bag in evidence today.
In light of all the above, even Police Chief Jesse Curry had doubts about the paper bag. As Speer notes, in describing the bag in a picture, Curry wrote: "A paper bag probably constructed from wrapping paper and tape at the Texas School Book Depository.. .This is probably the same bag which was found on the sixth floor by investigators." (italics added) Here, the Police Chief—the man ultimately responsible for the case against Oswald—actually used the qualifier "probably" not once, but twice. Finally, Speer shows that the second bag, the one in evidence today, was very likely cut down in size from the Commission's larger bag, the one described by Studebaker. It had to be in order to fit the allegations of Wesley Frazier about a different bag. Which indicates just how important Frazier was to the official story in this regard.

You bring up an excellent point regarding Lee Oswald's alleged attempt on General Walker's life.
In addition to the astonishing claim that he, a Marine, would bury a rifle, a series of anomalies present to me:
It was after his murder that the Walker claim was made.
A credible witness saw not one but two men, and said they left in a car—Lee, we are told, could not drive.
General Walker said the bullet later shown was not the bullet recovered.
There is the fact the shooter had a target at rest at close range and missed--
--yet hundreds of feet below moving away at an angle this same shooter could make the shots unable to be matched by the Commission's experts.
Fiction is a wonderful medium. E. Howard Hunt wrote 42 novels. He was summoned by Allen Dulles to be the latter's personal consultant 1961-3.
And yet the author, even with his son's assistance, cannot write THE END.

As for proof number 7, again space limitations prevent full exploration of the charge that Oswald attempted to assassinate General Walker. Suffice to say that the accusation rests essentially on the “revelations†of Marina Oswald—whom everyone need not regard with the same confident admiration as does Justice Warren. Besides, her testimony is contradicted by a mountain of improbabilities: the circumstances under which Oswald would have been able to go to Walker’s house and back, the identification of the recovered bullet, the simple fact that the sharpshooter of Elm Street is supposed to have missed an extremely easy target and, curiously, did not immediately fire a second shot. All that matters here, however, is the way the Commission tries to link the attack on Walker with the President’s assassination.
The idea, apparently, is that the attempt on Walker demonstrates Oswald’s “disposition to take human life†and “his capacity for violence.†This is summed up in Chapter VII of the Report, where “possible motives†of Oswald are discussed, in a striking sentence that is in itself sufficient to destroy proof number 7: “The Commission has concluded that on April 10, 1963, Oswald shot at Maj. General Edwin A. Walker (Resigned, U.S. Army), demonstrating once again his propensity to act dramatically and, in this instance, violently, in furtherance of his beliefs.â€
In furtherance of which beliefs is Oswald supposed to have slain Kennedy? The Report gives us the following details: “Oswald did not lack the determination and other traits required to carry out a carefully planned killing of another human being and was willing to consummate such a purpose if he thought there was sufficient reason to do so. Some idea of what he thought was sufficient reason for such an act may be found in the nature of the motive that he stated for his attack on General Walker. Marina Oswald indicated that her husband had compared General Walker to Adolph [sic] Hitler…†Granting for now, as does Chief Justice Warren, that the word of Marina Oswald is sacred—did Oswald consider John Kennedy to be another Hitler or another Walker? Oswald’s various statements about Kennedy, cited by the Report, categorically disprove this interpretation; yet in the conclusion to Chapter VII the Commission coolly repeats that Oswald demonstrated “a capacity to act decisively and without regard to the consequences when such action would further his aims of the moment.†Since one searches in vain, from start to finish of the Warren Report, for a single word on the “aims of the moment†Oswald believed he would serve by killing Kennedy, the Commission—to the extent that it beings up the attempt on Walker—seems to prove, if anything, that Oswald could not have been the assassin of President Kennedy.

On the authority of Dallas Police detective Ira Van Cleave, the New York Times reported that the bullet fired into the wall behind General Edwin Walker on April 10, 1963, was “from a 30.06 rifle.†“Walker Escapes Assassin's Bullet, “ New York Times (April 12, 1963), p. 12. However, as in the case of much assassination-related evidence, the bullet was transformed while in the custody of the FBI. An FBI ballistics expert identified it instead as “a 6.5 millimeter bullet,†thus making it compatible with Oswald's rifle, which the Warren Commission then ruled was its source. Warren Report, pp. 186-87. Under pressure from federal investigators, Marina Oswald gave a series of totally contradictory statements on her husband's involvement in the Walker incident, which the Warren Commission drew on selectively to accuse Oswald of shooting at Walker (used in turn as evidence of his capacity to kill Kennedy). George DeMohrenschildt was requested by J. Walton Moore of the CIA Domestic Contacts Division to guide Oswald in Dallas. DeMohrenschildt introduced Lee and Marina to Ruth Paine (whose sister was a CIA agent, and whose family had links to Allen Dulles and Bell Helicopter).
Ruth Paine placed Lee Oswald in the Texas School Book Depository. Next to the Dal-Tex Building where Jeanne DeMohrenschildt's business partner Abraham Zapruder had his Jenifer Juniors business.
DeMohrenschildt begged former DCI George H.W. Bush to call off the “vigilantes.†After injections and disturbing treatments by a Dr. Mendoza, DeMohrenschildt left Angleton's asset Epstein and, before HSCA investigator Fonzi could call upon him, died under suspicious circumstances on March 29, 1977.
Which was the same day Charles “Chuck†Nicoletti, associate of Giancana, Traficante, Rosselli and Marcello, was shot dead in a hail of bullets.

1) The assembled suppressed weapon is a unit not to be disassembled in order to maintain its zero;
2) An improperly machined, assembled or aligned suppressor will cause shots to stray;
3) A barrel need not be longer to be more accurate, in fact, a shorter barrel with better maching is more accurate;
4) A subsonic shot is able to be suppressed to the point of virtual undetectability:

A suppressed rifle should be stored and carried in its assembled, ready-to-go configuration. Many of us have seen movies in which a fitted case full of components (stock, action, barrel, forearm, scope, mount and silencer) was assembled in the field, and then used to complete an important assassination. This is pure Hollywood. No enforcement officer in his right mind would ever assemble a rifle on the spot on a callout at a crime scene and expect the weapon to hold its zero. (1) It might, but such an occurrence would be an abnormality. And what would he the moral and legal consequences of a botched shot in a hostage rescue attempt? By the same token, some suppressors cause shots to stray with various degrees of tightness or looseness on a rifle's barrel. (2)

We have been taught from grade school that long barrels are much more accurate than short barrels, but this has no basis in fact. (3) We personally find that an 46 cm or 18 inch barrel is a bit more accurate than a 66 cm or 26 inch barrel. The chamber, throat, crown and rifling are more important than barrel length. Subsonic rifle barrels may range from 20 to 30 cm or 8 to 12 inches in length. One does not need very much linear acceleration in order to reach a velocity of 300 m/s or 1,000 fps with a .308 bullet.

With a properly designed system, the loudest sound will be that of the bullet strike. With effective suppressor technology we can all but eliminate the sound of a muzzle blast. By hovering around 1,000 fps we can virtually eliminate bullet flight noise. (4) The only thing left is the plop of bullet impact, which can be quite loud on occasion.

One doesn't need much barrel length to develop a minimal 300 m/s or 1,000 fps of velocity with a heavy, large caliber bullet. A 20 to 25 cm or 8 to 10 inch tube will provide plenty of acceleration. For the record, a good 25 cm or 10 inch barrel is fully as accurate as a much longer one. One more time, with feeling, a 25 cm or 10 inch barrel is fully as accurate as a 76 cm or 30 inch barrel. We often note a significant increase in accuracy when we cut a 61 cm or 24 inch barrel back to 25 cm or 10 inches. A proper chamber, adequate rifling twist rate and a perfect muzzle crown are all more important than barrel length. (3)

In Robert's essays on the shots from the Dal-Tex Building which hit the pavement, the possibility presents that their innaccuracy was due to a suppressor field-installed without regard to the extant author's exhortation to maintain assembly of a dedicated suppressed sniper weapon.
The riddle of the backshot's penetration to a ridiculously shallow depth may be due to a short load intended to reduce velocity and hence sound, or to a mis-machined, -assembled, or -aligned suppressor causing tumbling and subsequent innaccuracy.
The use of shorter-barreled weapons is not constrained by the demands of accuracy, allowing for at least one eye-witness' observance of such a weapon.
The publicized fact that subsonic shots may be suppressed below the level of detection allows for shots not mentioned by any set of witnesses assembled by FBI, Warren Report, HSCA records, various researchers or interviewers.
This allows for a greater liberality in assignment of shots to account for back shot, throat shot, two headshots, shots to Connally, shots to the pavement at the turn, a shot on the sidewalk, a shot near a manhole, a shot in the grass picked up and pocketed by a man in a suit, a shot striking the curb at the feet of James Tague.
Noel Twyman interviewed Gerry Hemming for Bloody Treason:
Gerry Patrick Hemming states: “The one thing we do know is none of the [assassination] teams knew the existence of the others ... when they heard the shots, they would flinch because they weren’t sure that they’d been spotted and somebody was trying to take them out. ... you can put a smile on the shooter’s face because then he realizes that it’s a super-pro job and there are backup and decoy teams and that’s where those shots are coming from. Silencers were used extensively. These were sonic silencers purchased through Mitchell Werbell.†BT

Deputy Weatherford:
Deputy Sheriff and crack shot Harry Weatherford is on the roof of the Dallas County Jail (Records Building) with a rifle during the assasÂsination. Weatherford has received a custom-made silencer for his rifle several weeks prior to the assassination. He is reportedly ordered to the roof of the building by Dallas sheriff Bill Decker. (When Decker dies in 1970, Weatherford is at his bedside.) A researcher once asks him if he shot JFK. Weatherford replies, “You little son of a bitch, I shoot lots of people.â€

Buckley is a quibbler, has no intention of listening, let alone hearing, let alone allowing to be heard any argument counter to dogma, that is, Oswald.
He wrote the Sharon Statement in 1960, the founding document of Young Americans for Freedom, the group which met in New York in 1964 in an effort to draft Goldwater.
Buckley in his observance of the passing of E. Howard Hunt is beyond scrupulous in limiting his acquaintance to Mexico City CIA employment 1950-1, eschewing any but the most cursory assistance post-Watergate.
Buckley's another of those who left the Agency. And on that mockery you will not hear a laugh except outside the Gates of Eden.
As the O'Brien in the grilling—and it's no interview; it's a roast—Buckley concedes nothing and sees no merit.
And isn't it special that Buckley throws up Robert Kennedy, the president's brother, the Attorney General, accepts the Warren Report, if it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me.
Lane says, but Robert Kennedy has not read the 26 volumes of evidence and is not an expert, and you do not accept the word of Robert Kennedy on other things.
Buckley says it's prescriptive, that he doesn't have to prove the earth is round. Lane says that is not in contention; the death of President Kennedy is.
It's merely jousting. In the end Buckley the intellectual accepts the coarsest of lies, that a lone Communist killed the president.
Return to the key, the slanderous introduction, the reptilian hiss that Lane is a leftist embracing leftist causes, and when Lane objected the lizard's tongue darts out sampling the air.
It's as much a show as the wonderful match with Gore Vidal wherein Vidal's smear of Buckley as a Nazi is met with the cool threat of plastering the guest.
Key here is Vidal's 1973 Review of Books work The Art and Arts of E. Howard Hunt wherein it is posited Hunt forged cables blaming JFK for Diem's murder, that Hunt forged the Bremer diary, Bremer being crucial to Nixon's re-election.
And as for Nixon's 1968 triumph, Buckley on the occasion of Hunt's death explained his horror at the latter's suggestion LBJ had been involved in the assassination of JFK. And does not Buckley's assurance to the author of Rush to Judgment that Robert Kennedy's opinion was good enough for the arch-conservative ring particularly hollow in the light (or darkness) of the Ambassador pantry?
Buckley worked for Hunt; Dulles called in Hunt for a project occupying the years 1961-3. And Hunt would be the saboteur to take down Nixon.
Buckley left the Agency, but his conclusions regarding Dallas remained those of the men who kept the secrets forty years on, the lone Communist.
Our friend the veteran of Army intelligence spat out in disgust that Mark Lane was a Communist.
Oswald the Communist. Lane the Communist. We are speaking in code here.
This is a category beyond the protections of law or civilization. As James Douglass characterized John Kennedy, he was soon marked out for assassination.
Bowers saw three cars; two out of three with Goldwater stickers. Buckley was telling Lane at the last that it didn't matter who killed the president, that it did matter that the president was killed.
Oh, to be sure.

The Assassination / Revising. . . .please wait.
(O)n November 23, 1963 Deputy Constable Seymour Weitzman executed an affidavit. He swore that on the previous day he discovered on the sixth floor of the Depository a 7.65 Mauser equipped with a 4/18 scope, and a thick leather brownish-black sling on it. (The actual affidavit is in Mark Lane's Rush To Judgment, p. 409) This is not what the Commission later said was Oswald's rifle. They said it was a 6.5 Mannlicher Carcano. But further, Deputy Sheriff Roger Craig was standing near Weitzman at the time of discovery. He said that Weitzman thought it was a Mauser at first. But then he looked at the rifle at close range and saw that it was stamped "7. 65 Mauser". This is what confirmed the ID for the constable. (This testimony can be seen in the film Evidence of Revision on You Tube, Part IV.)

Deputy constable Seymour Weitzman of the Dallas police claimed that he found Oswald's Mannlicher-Carcano on the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository. However, on the day of the assassination he had told the press that the rifle he'd found was a German Mauser. The following day he signed an affidavit to that effect. But on the CBS tapes he testified that he'd been mistaken about that point, that it had really been Oswald's rifle. The PSE showed considerable stress in his statements. (pages 6-7)

A group of Dallas Police Department detectives, including Will Fritz, Seymour Weitzman, Roger Craig, Eugene Boone and Luke Mooney searched the Texas School Book Depository soon after the assassination of John F. Kennedy. On the sixth floor they discovered a rifle hidden beneath some boxes. The detectives identified it as a 7.65 Mauser. District Attorney Henry M. Wade, in a television interview, told the nation that the rifle was a Mauser. It was the FBI who announced that the officers had been mistaken. According to them it was a 6.5 Mannlicher-Carcano, an Italian bolt-action rifle used in the Second World War. All the detectives agreed to change their mind about the rifle except Roger Craig.
On page 263 of James Douglass, JFK and the Unspeakable: Why He Died and Why It Matters:
Deputy Constable Seymour Weitzman who told the Warren Commission he met up with Secret Service agents behind the wall that adjoined the stockade fence, said he turned over “to one of the Secret Service men†what he believed was a portion of the president's skull that he had found on Elm Street.
Of course the “Secret Service agents†were nothing of the sort.

Dallas County deputy constable Seymour Weitzman also ran toward the top of the grassy knoll – where he found a man carrying Secret Service identification. Weitzman later identified this man as Bernard Barker, a CIA asset and the future Watergate burglar who would lead the four-man contingent of Cuban–born Watergate burglars from the Miami area. Barker was an expert at surreptitious entries, planting bugs and photographing documents. He was a close associate of Florida Mafia godfather Santos Trafficante, and of Mob-connected Key Biscayne banker Bebe Rebozo – Richard Nixon's bosom buddy.

The Assassination / Three mutually dependent accusations untested in court
Gerald D. McKnight, Breach of Trust: How the Warren Commission Failed the Nation and Why, pages 48-59 discusses the problems with the allegation Lee Oswald shot at General Walker.
Acting Attorney General Katzenbach called Alan H. Belmont the assistant to the director and the executive officer Hoover had placed in charge of the investigation regarding the Walker case. Belmont told Katzenbach the Dallas authorities didn't consider Oswald a suspect.
The only basis for the charge in the incident seven and a half months prior (April 10, 1963) was an unsigned note which appeared later under dubious provenance.
Dallas police's witness testimony pointed to two or three conspirators with cars using a high-powered rifle and steel-jacketed ammunition. Oswald did not drive and had no known access to a car, his Mannlicher-Carcano rifle was not high-powered, and the ammunition he allegedly used to kill Kennedy was copper-jacketed.
FBI chief firearms expert Robert A. Frazier repeatedly stressed that Oswald's Mannlicher-Carcano had a “very low velocity and pressure, and just an average-size bullet weight.†The Dallas police believed the bullet to have been a .30-06-caliber rifle, the bullet found having penetrated the center wood strip of the outer screen of the general's study, through a copper weather strip, and penetrated an inside masonry wall reinforced with solid tin and metal lathing.
FBI lab results for the Walker bullet by Agent Henry H. Heilberger concluded that Q-188 the Walker Bullet were described in the official report (PC-78378) as being of a lead alloy different from the lead allow of the two large bullet fragments recovered from under the left jump seat of the presidential limousine. Heilberger was never called as a Commission witness.
In 1979 Walker was watching a televised session of the House Select Committee on Assassinations when Robert Blakey, the committee's chief counsel, held up CE 573 as a visual aide to augment his narrative on the firearms evidence in the Kennedy assassination. Walker, a thirty-year career army officer with extensive combat experience in World War II, and with more than a passing familiarity with military weaponry, was stunned. According to Walker, what Blakey represented as the bullet fired into his home bore no resemblance to the piece of lead the police had recovered, which he had held in his own hand and closely examined.
FBI fingerprint expert Sebastian Latona found seven latent fingerprints from the unsigned note allegedly written by Lee Oswald and found by Marina Oswald, the note found days later after multiple police searches. None of the prints matched either Lee Oswald or Marina Oswald.
None were “identical with the fingerprints of Lee Harvey Oswald or Marina Nikolaevna Oswald.â€
Several months later Rankin wrote Hoover a six-page letter complaining that Marina's testimony on the Walker shooting to the FBI and Secret Service was giving the Commission lawyers fits because it was riddled with contradictions.
Shanklin had assigned Agent Ivan D. Lee to the Walker shooting case. Lee concluded his report, “Our investigation did not establish whether Oswald did or did not make an attempt on General Walker's life.â€
Agents Lee and Robert M. Barrett spent a week interviewing witnesses already identified by the Dallas Police. One of Walker's neighbors Walter Kirk Coleman spotted two men getting into their cars and leaving. Coleman described the cars, described the men, when shown a photo of Oswald said neither man looked like Oswald, nor had he seen anyone around the Walker residence before or after the incident who looked like Oswald.
Robert A. Surrey, a Dallas businessman and a Walker supporter told the agents two days before the incident he had arrived at Walker's house and noticed two “well dressed men in suits and ties†looking into Walker's windows. He observed the men for thirty minutes. Neither looked like Oswald.
The note conveniently appeared as part of the circular reasoning that the attempted assassination of Walker somehow proved Oswald killed the president.
In similar fashion the murder of J.D. Tippit was used to prove Oswald killed the president.
None of the three propositions was tested in court as the accused was murdered.

Photos taken of the sixth-floor window less than two minutes after the shooting show the boxes being REARRANGED (5:53). This fact was detected by the photographic experts retained by the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA). I quote from the HSCA testimony of photographic expert Dr. Robert R. Hunt:
Mr. FITHIAN. I would like to ask the staff to put up JFK F-153. As I understand it, Doctor, this is a picture that was taken a few seconds after the shot; is that correct? Dr. HUNT. I am not sure until I see the picture. Which one are you referring to? Mr. FITHIAN. I believe that is the one of the---TSBD? Dr. HUNT. Oh, yes, right. Yes; in answer to your question, THAT WAS TAKEN A FEW SECONDS AFTER THE LAST SHOT WAS FIRED. AT LEAST THAT IS DILLARD'S TESTIMONY TO THE WARREN COMMISSION, I BELIEVE.
Mr. FITHIAN. Now, directing your attention to that particular exhibit, the photograph in the area of the sixth floor window, the open window, there seems to be a change in the configuration of the boxes. How did the photo panel account for this?
Dr. HUNT. The change in configuration of the boxes with respect to what, with respect to another window view?
Mr. FITHIAN. No, with respect to other photos that you analyzed.
Dr. HUNT. OK. Probably the one most pertinent to that would be exhibit which is showing next to it at the moment--I am not aware of the exhibit number for it--but that shows the same window, TAKEN APPROXIMATELY ONE TO TWO MINUTES AFTER THE FIRST PICTURE WHICH WE TALKED ABOUT, the one taken by Dillard on the right, the one by Powell on the left. You are correct in perceiving that there is something which we could ascribe to a change in the configuration of the boxes. For example, the picture on the right, we see only two boxes, one at the left of the window sill and just a corner of the one peeping up at the right of the window sill. Whereas, in the picture, the enlarged picture, for example, on the left, we see not just the two boxes; you can still see, for example, on the left there is the same small box at the left, there is the same corner peeping up at the right. But now we have two or three other boxes, apparently rising up in between them. There are two possible explanations, I guess, for that, that the panel considered. One is that we are seeing boxes which are in the room, but because of our perspective, our line of sight, is different, we are seeing different boxes than were visible in the other picture. The second explanation is that there has been physically a movement of the boxes in the room during the time which elapsed between the taking of those pictures.
Mr. FITHIAN. All right. Now there is no way that we can know which it is?
Dr. HUNT. There are ways of eliminating or narrowing down the possibilities between those two choices. For example, given the geometry at which you are viewing, and given the apparent sunlight on the boxes, you could probably guess how far into the room those boxes do lie. For example, if you look at the two boxes which appear to have been introduced in the picture on the left, they appear to be in full sunlight, which means they must not lie too far inside the room because this was high noon, in November; the sun angle is simply not that low in Dallas at high noon in November to shine sunlight very deep into the room. So they can certainly not be too far behind the plane of the window; and THAT WOULD THEREFORE TEND TO RULE OUT THE POSSIBILITY THAT WE ARE LOOKING AT THE BOX WHICH LIES IN ONE POSITION IN THE ROOM AND IS SIMPLY TENDED TO BE VIEWED IN DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE FROM TWO DIFFERENT VIEWING POINTS.
Mr. FITHIAN. You say it rules that out?
Dr. HUNT. It tends to rule it out, yes. It does not rule it out completely, because we lack what is usually referred to as the analytical information, from the position of the two photographers to precisely plot the positions of those boxes by stereoanalysis techniques.
Mr. FITHIAN. WELL, IF IT GENERALLY TENDS TO RULE THAT OUT, THEN IT SEEMS THIS COMMITTEE WOULD BE LEFT WITH ONLY ONE CONCLUSION, AND THAT IS, THAT A BOX WAS ACTUALLY MOVED.
Dr. HUNT. THAT WOULD BE MY ONLY PERSONAL CONCLUSION, THAT SOMEBODY OR SOMETHING MOVED BOXES AROUND IN THAT ROOM DURING THE TIME OF TAKING OF THOSE TWO PICTURES. (4 HSCA 422-423, emphasis added)
Indeed, the Committee's photographic panel eventually came to the following conclusion: "There is an apparent rearranging of boxes within 2 minutes after the last shot was fired at President Kennedy" (6 HSCA 109). The photographic panel went into more detail in its report:
Examination of both the Dillard and Powell photographs of the sixth floor windows shows an open window with deep shadows in the region behind it. The deep shadows indicate the film was underexposed in these regions; that is, too little light reached the film or a clear recording of any details in the room behind the window.
A number of enhancement processes were applied to the photographs in order to bring out any details obscured within the underexposed regions. They were as follows:
(1) Photographic enhancement (using photo-optical and photochemical techniques) of the underexposed regions of the Dillard photograph undertaken at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
(2) Autoradiographic enhancement of the underexposed regions of the Dillard photograph at Stanford Research Institute, Inc. (SRI).
(3) Computer enhancement of the underexposed regions of the Powell photograph at the University of Southern California and the Aerospace Corp. In addition, the Dillard photographs were scanned and digitized for possible computer enhancement. Nevertheless, no such enhancement was performed because the Panel decided that the autoradiographic technique had more potential for success.
The photographic and computer processes made visible details that had been obscured in the underexposed regions of the photographs. Both the photographic enhancement by RIT and the autoradiographic enhancement by SRI revealed a feature in the fifth floor window immediately beneath the sixth floor window. Figure IV-1 (JFK exhibit F-153) shows one of the. original Dillard photographs, and figure IV-2 is an autoradiographic enhancement. The detail revealed by the processing appears to be a circular light fixture hanging from the ceiling of the fifth floor room, with a light bulb in the center of the fixture.
In the enhanced Powell photograph additional details became visible on the boxes in the windows. (See figure IV-3, JFK exhibit F157.) Nevertheless in neither photograph did the processing operations reveal any sign of a human face or form in the open sixth floor or adjoining windows.
The Panel concluded that the light fixture revealed in the fifth window served as a "benchmark" against which the sixth floor enhancement could be judged. . . .
Although human faces or forms were not visible in the enhanced photographs, inspection of figures IV-2 and IV-3 reveals a difference in the boxes visible through the sixth floor widow. in the Dillard photograph, only two boxes are immediately visible, one each to the left and right of the window frame. Nevertheless, the Powell photograph shows several additional boxes. There are two possible explanations for this difference:
(1) The Powell photograph may reflect only an apparent change in the boxes; the different angle from which Powell viewed the depository may have caused a different set of boxes within the room to be framed within the window;
(2) The boxes were moved during the time that elapsed between the Dillard and Powell photographs. Since the precise positions of Dillard and Powell at the time of the photographs were unknown, it was not possible to calculate precisely the region within the sixth floor room that would have been visible to each photographer. In the Dillard photograph, the two to the left and right of the window frame appear to be in the full light of the Sun, with no shadows cast on them by the frame of the partially opened window. In the Powell photograph, it also appears that the boxes are in full sunlight, with no shadow cast on them by the window frame.
A simple trigonometric calculation shows that the two boxes at the left and right lie approximately 6 inches from the plane of the window (see appendix A). If full sunlight is falling on the additional boxes in question in the Powell photograph, they must also lie close to the plane of the window. For this reason, THE PANEL CONCLUDED THAT THE ADDITIONAL BOXES VISIBLE IN THE POWELL PHOTOGRAPH WERE MOVED DURING THE INTERVAL BETWEEN THE DILLARD AND POWELL PHOTOGRAPHS. (6 HSCA 110-115, emphasis added)
WC defenders cite the claims of Dale Myers, a private researcher who asserts that the apparent movement of boxes is in effect an optical illusion. But the photographic panel considered the argument on which Myers makes this claim--and rejected it. Oswald could not have been the one moving the boxes because he was seen on the second floor by Baker and Truly less than 90 seconds after the shots were fired (5:53). So, who was moving the boxes around less than two minutes after the shooting? Who was the man seen in the sniper's nest by the law clerk from a nearby building just a few minutes after the shots were fired? Whoever it was, it could not have been Oswald.

The Assassination / Toward a better understanding
I am deeply indebted to the persistence in the pursuit of truth on the part of the moderators.
In my view, Michael T. Griffith presents cogent and concise argument for Lee Oswald having been elsewhere than the corner window of the sixth floor at the time of the shooting.
It is of a piece, in my reasoning, with Lee Oswald having been tested by Dallas Police and confirmed by the AEC's Oak Ridge Laboratory testing, to be negative vis-a-vis the paraffin test for the cheek—a fact of major import as (as Griffith indicates) the seven test subjects who fired the rifle type alleged to be the murder weapon all presented positive.
I would add that the accused's last telephone call of his life was to John Hurt in North Carolina, likely his control from Office of Naval Intelligence.
The mere fact of the accused's employment in the building on the motorcade route at the scene of the darkest deed on American soil in the Twentieth Century may be laid to Ruth Paine.
Doesn't everyone have multiple links to Allen Welsh Dulles of that agency which the murdered president vowed to shatter into a thousand pieces and scatter to the winds.
In the larger context the day may be said to have been decades in creation, more decades in Mockingbird massage, and taken in the immortal words of former DCI Robert M. Gates, “how business gets done.â€

Givens originally told the FBI that he saw Oswald reading a newspaper at 11:50 am on the morning of November 22, 1963 in the Domino Room. This, of course would have explained the presence of barium and antimony on his hands, since BOTH barium and antimony were present on printed paper.
And if he rubbed his cheek with one of those hands, well you get the idea.
It certainly would explain why there was more barium and antimony present on the cheek and hands than would be for a person who had NOT fired a gun.
It would explain why the chemical test showed more nitrates on the PALM side than on the back side of the hands.
And it would explain the dispersion of nitrates on the hands as depicted by the Dallas Crime Lab. The nitrates on the hands ( drawing above ) are consistent with someone handling a newspaper.
Needless to say, this FBI report was never mentioned in the Commission's Final Report. It was never accepted as an Exhibit, but instead was buried with the Commission Documents.
In order to hide this fact, the Commission out of the blue asked Givens if he had seen Oswald reading a newspaper in the Domino Room of the TSBD on the morning of the assassination.
Givens denied it. ( 6 H 352 )
And THAT'S what got into the 26 volumes.
Though Givens told FBI Special Agents Will Hayden Griffin and Bardwell T. Odum on November 23, 1963 he in fact had seen Oswald reading a newspaper on the morning of the assassination, at 11:50, in the Domino Room of the Depository.

Lee had no GSR per the paraffin test of Dallas PD confirmed by the AEC’s Oak Ridge Lab which showed that seven other test subjects who did fire the weapon did have the barium and antimony.
The war went on. Profits were made on arms; access to the Golden Triangle was maintained. Our friend the colonel reported being ordered by superiors to provide safe passage for a strange drug convoy transiting his area from that held by the North.
And now we are in Afghanistan. Arms are sold; the Golden Crescent poppy crop thrives now that the Taliban has been suppressed.
Like Cortez in Bernal Diaz’ Conquest of Mexico with four hundred men, some cannon and horses, and lots and lots of treachery, the CIA continues its secret war despite the momentary impediment of one temporary resident of the White House.
John Newman makes it clear in Oswald and the CIA (2008) that no one but CIA could have manipulated the files and cables to create the WW III virus which insured the necessity of coverup.
Oswald’s last call was to John Hurt in North Carolina, his likely ONI handler, that agency which, like the Secret Service and CIA, refused to conform to the JFK Records Act.

Enemy of the Truth, Sherry P. Fiester
Thomas Noguchi showed us Robert F. Kennedy was killed, not by a patsy in front, but by a hidden killer behind. Sherry Fiester now shows us John F. Kennedy was not killed by a patsy behind, but by a hidden shooter in front.
In each case the professional investigator proceeds from established protocol. Science, not speculation, leads to the correct analysis, dispelling the myth, which is always the enemy of the truth.
Fiester’s thesis is a double-helix of interlocking observations: First, that a shot from the front entered at the right temple and blew out the right occipital, taking with it much of the right hemisphere.
To the lay person the overlay of observation is stunning: radial and concentric fracturing at the site of entry, appearance and disappearance of backspatter within milliseconds, a trail of metal fragments on the lateral x-ray from the entry, the two-inch forward movement in the initial milliseconds followed by the dramatic back and to the left movement in billiard-shot response.
Second, that the Single Bullet Theory, that hallucination of Specter conjured to account for seven wounds in two men, after Tague’s cheek subtracted from the three shots allowed, is not merely dead; it is most sincerely dead.
Readers will find the most thorough destruction-in-detail of this essential element of the Big Lie behind the most significant murder of the Twentieth Century.
And, at root and at last, that is what the eclipse of the Republic is all about, a murder misrepresented.
Followers of the methods of Sherlock Holmes of old books and cinema and new television will appreciate the removal of the impossible, the observation of the actual, and the summary analysis in determining the trajectory vector:
The president at the moment of impact, say Z-312/313, is looking left X degrees, down Y degrees; this orientation is aligned on an axis to the Z camera in the limo on Elm and a 35-degree range allowing the right-hemisphere shot centers on the juncture of the Underpass and the South Knoll.
Voila, a solution one hundred eighty degrees from the Warren (Dulles) Commission repeated ad nauseum by the Clark Panel, the HSCA, Humes at the ARRB, various cherry pickers in print and CGIstan.
The Single Bullet Theory fails on multiple grounds expounded in the 67-page climactic chapter. The author has faulted Dallas Police for failure to observe forensic protocols, protect the crime scene, develop the evidence, document the chain of evidence through drawings, photographs and written reports; this is supremely crucial in the Theory of Theories in the Crime of the Century.
Readers may be familiar with the doubt on the authenticity of CE 399 per the previous work of Robert Harris, Jim DiEugenio and others, the finding of Humes that the end of the back wound could be felt by his finger, that the president’s physician Burkley located it at the third thoracic, that all subsequent moving was to conform to the a priori lone gunman, three bullets, two men, seven wounds via the Magic Bullet.
Ford moved the wound by “altering†the draft of the Commission report from “entered his back at a point slightly above the shoulder to the right of the spine†to “entered the back of his neck at a point slightly to the right of his spineâ€â€”and Gerry Ford was the fourth autopsist who picked up the pieces of Helms’ demolition of Nixon by having Rockefeller “investigate†CIA and naming GHW Bush DCI to sanitize the witness list for the HSCA.
Perry’s clearly accurate description of the throat wound as one of entry brought the badgering of Secret Service agent Elmer Moore all Friday night and the piling on of Specter and Dulles at Commission hearings. Perry confided to McClelland he was afraid “they would kill me.â€
Livingstone told Humes of the entry wound to the throat before the autopsy, but the FBI stopped the call and Humes rolled over per his superiors’ instruction. McClelland, Perry, Carrico, Baxter and Jones saw an entry of .25 inch or less; a trach tube of .51 inches was inserted in an incision of that general size—yet Boswell indicates the incision was 6.5cm/2.56in—in the 295-page analysis of Anthony DeFiore following the research of Doug Weldon is a likely source for the initial wound which was so dangerous in its implications it caused a firestorm of reaction in Moore-Specter-Dulles.
The Warren Commission/FBI trajectory for the SBT is an a priori construct parroted by the HSCA and supposedly “replicated†by a cable program—which showed a bullet exiting the chest--perhaps a “Fordism†for “throatâ€â€”what difference does it make? As Weisberg would say, we’re only talking about the president.
Finally, chain of evidence is 0-4: Tomlinson, Wright, Johnsen, Rowley “could not identify†CE 399 the bullet shown them by FBI Special Agent Elmar Lee Todd.
A bullet from Fantasyland passed through two specters in seven places never on a line from the mythical nest yet was in no way similarly deformed as all test bullets fired into cadavers and ballistic gelatin by Commission personnel.
The reader will appreciate the detail in a 381-page book in the language of the professional crime scene investigator. This reviewer posits the precursors to the dual major thesis (single frontal head wound/explosion of SBT myth) as laying the groundwork for aspects of the central core:
Dallas PD Followed Protocol: In a twisted way: Fritz pocketed casings, would later step out of the way so Ruby could shoot Oswald. FBI experts found Studebaker’s prints all over the scene—the DP officer put in charge of the scene didn’t put on gloves; also, used powder, not chemical to lift prints, consistent with the unsupervised, untrained newbie left to “develop latent fingerprints, photograph, and collect evidence in the homicide investigation of the President of the United States.â€
Ear Witnesses: Acoustics of the Plaza served to confuse directionality of sound. Witnesses named the Depository or the North “Grassy Knoll†but not the South—if we disregard Robert “Tosh†Plumlee and the wizardry of Mitch WerBell, CIA/Military master arms developer responsible for early innovations in silencer technology. Hence, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. (as presumed in the mysterious surfacing of Witt the ersatz “Umbrella Man†and Jett the “sandwich man†both “demonstrating there’s no there thereâ€)
Blood in Zapruder is Faked: Backspatter appears and disappears in milliseconds—and is in Zapruder in precisely the manner expected with a frontal shot circa Z-312/313. Why was it “left in by forgers� Because backspatter was not identified and analyzed before 1982, by which time all of the speculative shenanigans at Hawkeyeworks/NPIC in re Costella, Healy, Horne, et al was in the can.
The Limo Stop: The author stipulates the limo did not stop, technically. Accounts in the record by a handful of researchers describe a version of Zapruder seen by them depicting a full limo stop. Witnesses report in their scores of a slowing of a dramatic nature. The author describes an identified psychological condition reported by professional first-responders in crisis of an uncanny slowing of the rollout of events—literally slow-motion.
A paper by George Michael Evica “The Surrounding Silence: The Terrible First Sound in Dealey Plaza†(1993) suggests the initial report was designed to freeze the action. The epileptic “seizure†and ambulance, the “sound of fireworksâ€, the smoke and gunpowder smell at the Grassy Knoll, the magician was at work distracting. Brake lights and Greer’s looking back until the headshot may indicate a slowing rather than a stop per se. The reader will not see even that in the extant Zapruder.
Ballistics Prove One Shooter: Here’s one of three eye-catchers:
The Firearm Analysis and Tool Mark Panel of the HSCA fired ammunition through the Mannlicher Carcano in anticipation of using the bullets as a standard for comparison identifications. Bullets the firearms panel fired from the rifle did not match either the FBI test cartridges of those found on the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository; nor did they match the bullet found on the stretcher at Parkland Hospital. The striking discovery was the test bullets fired by the HSCA panel through the Mannlicher Carcano rifle did not even match each other.
In 1977 Guinn told the HSCA antimony in Mannlicher Carcano ammunition was consistent, a conclusion used to pronounce the official version of events. Yet in two years Guinn found wide variance in antimony in individual Carcano bullets. Guinn fits somewhere between the White Knight and the Red Queen.
His expertise allowed him to testify Gallagher was inexperienced, and Mannlicher Carcano ammunition’s “concentration range from bullet-to-bullet is tremendousâ€â€”Guinn and Gallagher two of the seven blind men used to determine the characteristics of the elephant.
In 2004 the Committee on Scientific Assessment of Bullet Lead Elemental Composition and Comparison in the report of Clifford Spiegelman found fragments could have come from three or more separate bullets. Stewart Wexler’s work called Guinn’s conclusions into question on a range of issues. In short, the ballistic “evidence†was an ad hoc solution to an a priori conclusion, not the result of an investigation in the sense of the professional.
The Grassy Knoll Headshot: The Warren conclusion was a priori; its trajectory “analysis†was result-oriented, as was the cable program referenced (dispatched on ctka.net by Jim DiEugenio).

Gunn: So, it’s your opinion that the trauma to the head began at the front and moved towards the back of the head?
Custer: Yes, sir. Absolutely (Custer, 1997)
Herein is the radial and concentric fracturing from the frontal entry.
It is well worth repeating the author’s comment (pp196-7):
Kennedy’s X-Rays depict radial fractures that appear to originate in the frontal bone. Concentric fractures are located predominately near the front of the head. Kennedy’s autopsy X-Rays have distinct radial fractures propagating from the front of the head, with the preponderance of concentric fractures located at the front. This results in smaller fragments nearer the point of entry, enlarging in size as they move toward the exit wound. Current research indicates Kennedy’s fracturing pattern corresponds with an entry wound located in the frontal bone, which correlates to a projectile striking the front of the head.
And on page 218, an appalling failing of both government “investigationsâ€:
There are standardized procedures for trajectory reconstruction that provide an accurate method to define where shooters are located. However, neither the Warren Commission, nor the House Select Committee on Assassinations used those uniform processes for trajectory analysis.
Two Headshots: A quick one-two:
The Itek Corporation report concluded Kennedy’s head moved forward approximately 2.3 inches and his shoulder about 1.1 inches at Frames 312 and 313. Following that forward movement, Itek reported President Kennedy’s head move rearward from Zapruder 314 to 321 (Itek, 1976) (page 232).
Movement into the force: Once the bullet enters the skull, if the design of the projectile limits penetration by distortion or fragmentation, the bullet immediately loses velocity. The loss of velocity results in the transfer of kinetic energy demonstrated by the instantaneous generation of temporary cavitation. The higher a projectile’s velocity upon impact, the more kinetic energy is available to transfer to the target. The amount of kinetic energy transferred to a target increases with faster projectile deceleration. This initial transfer of energy causes the target to swell or move minutely into the force and against the line of fire. The greater the transferred energy, the more pronounced the forward movement (Karger, 2008; Coupland, 2011;l Radford, 2009). (page 245)
In sum, author Sherry Fiester is uniquely qualified to critique the crime scene investigation of the official bodies over the course of the past fifty years. Her approach is that of the professional, the use of established science-based protocols to determine events and causalities, not search for same to support a priori conclusions.

Enemy of the Truth: Myths, Forensics, and the Kennedy Assassination / The South Knoll
The smoke and smell of gunpowder, the sound of shots and commotion behind the fence, all occurred at the Grassy Knoll. The majority of witnesses said the shots came from there, and a crowd, led by police, ran there, only to be told by "Secret Service" there was nothing to see.
The Potemkin Sniper's Nest had no Lee Oswald, and its boxes were moved after the shots were fired, the weapon planted, the shells arranged.
Omitted for a half century was a position in line with Elm Street at the key shot positions, the South Knoll.
Robert "Tosh" Plumlee was present there, with Sergio, on an "abort" mission. In 1981, Plumlee, a CIA contract pilot, sent Bud Fensterwald a photo with a "possible" South Knoll trajectory.
After the shots, Tosh and Sergio ran up the South Knoll, crossed the tracks, slid down the other side to their arriving ride to a safe house prior to a rendezvous at one of the airports for extraction.
Anthony DeFiore has created a 308-page analysis establishing the throat shot from the South Knoll at Z-225 which pierced the windshield. Shrapnel holes which may have been from glass shards from this shot were filled by Thom Robinson, who filled the small hole at the right temple.
Doug Weldon interviewed George Whitaker, Sr., a Ford glass plant manager who witnessed the manufacture of replacement windshield(s) November 25.
Sherry Fiester using wound trajectory and head placement on a Dealey Plaza map selects the South Knoll to the exclusion of other sites as the source for the head shot at Z-313.
Rolando Cubela asked Des FitzGerald and Nestor Sanchez for a silenced FAL sniper rifle allegedly to kill Castro on October 29.
Such a weapon would have a semiautomatic capability allowing a throat shot at Z-225 and a head shot at Z-313 without cycling a bolt requiring target reacquisition.
William Harvey had been tasked by Richard Helms to set up the ZR-RIFLE program.
The Mongoose may have had plausible denial.

Researcher Philip Melanson has written that Ray used aliases which matched actual people living in Montreal, and began using those aliases before he first arrived there during his pre-assassination travels: "four of the five aliases used by Ray in the nine months preceding the crime were real Canadians who lived in close proximity to each other." These people - Eric S. Galt, Raymond George Sneyd, Paul E. Bridgeman - all lived within a couple of miles of each other in Toronto, and all looked very similar to Ray. Galt and Willard, another Toronto resident whose name Ray used, both had scars on the right side of their faces, as Ray did. Though Ray had used aliases throughout his criminal career, there is no evidence Ray had been to Toronto prior to fleeing there after the King murder, and no explanation for how he came to use these particular names.

Regarding Cuba, it was a surprise when Kennedy won. With Nixon an invasion would have ensued. Had it been immediate it might have been successful. Were it delayed until 1962 it would have resulted in a nuclear exchange and devastation. The Kennedy Tapes and One Minute to Midnight are useful.
Despite E. Howard Hunt's bleatings in Give Us This Day, 1973, Kennedy did not withdraw air support and use of ground troops was never on the table. This is why I see Bay of Pigs as CIA's provocation leading to Kennedy's assassination. 1500 passionate irregulars were chopped up by Castro's T-33 jets with their multiple .50 cal. guns and his ten thousand troops--plus there was no general uprising.
In Unspeakable we see Lodge's defiance during the Diem-Nhu coup. Lodge would behave curiously on the cabinet junket, using quarters in the Hilton payphone rather than the military patch.
In fact Dulles and Dulles had been running the world for decades. In Evica Arrogance we see Allen in Switzerland the day the Germans sent Lenin to Petersburg to remove pressure on the Eastern front. By 1930 Allen was pooh-poohing Hitler's rise and securing a US loan for Germany.
The crew which ran OSS likely cooperated with the Russians to take out Patton in December 1945 (Robert Wilcox, Target: Patton) in order that the Cold War continue. The National Security Acts of 1947 and 1949 simply showed Truman representing the temporary occupants of the White House were no match for the shadow state.
Piper tried to blame it all on Israel and Mossad. It's unlikely Kennedy proved an existential threat and the Jews are not stupid.
